"10 year plan." ;)

Nothing?

What's there to draw?

Yeah, seems kind of leading. Have something you'd like to get off your chest, OP?

Either way, I think it bodes fairly well for the game, and 16K screenshots are nice...

...On the other hand, maybe they're just fattening the pig up for the slaughter. ;)

Conclusion: Yeah, who in the world is Jonny Watts? He's never been active nor involved with Elite. Assume it's another markcom face... Promoting the company... For profit.

That the company who make it are doing extremely well for themselves?

Thing is I'm not someone who cares whether Frontier Developments are 'The Elite Company' or whether they do other stuff as well, other than so far as recognising that if they were 'The Elite Company' and nothing else, anybody who thinks that would be good news for this game in anything other than the very short term is barking mad.

Google says:

The chief commercial officer (CCO) is an executive-level role, with the holder being responsible for the commercial strategy and the development of an organization. It typically involves activities relating to marketing, sales, product development and customer service to drive business growth and market share.

Basically, if Braben is the captain of the ship, the CCO is the Head navigation officer. Braben says go here, and Johnny Watts finds the paths.

Not sure there are any conclusions to draw...but the article is point to a resurgence of UK based gaming companies after a bad decade or 2 for that market.

To me the real interesting part of this company is that they can come out with a game as strong as 'Elite', and show their real strength is in build and play simulators. Quite a diverse toolbox, as well as engine, to work with.

I am interested in seeing if they can pull out what Star Citizen has been having problems with..incorporating space flight gaming with First person shooting gaming (yes, space legs...not 'one of those people', but the two game styles are very hard to put together in a single, cohesive, manner).

Frontier is successfully growing bigger and expanding. I recall there was also a hedge fund that mentioned including Frontier in their investment portfolio recently. As for ED it can mostly be good imo. Frontier looks likely to survive and prosper which helps with affording more resources into future dev of ED. Braben also mentioned in the article he wants ED to be "remembered" for a long time.

Collapse of niaeve.

Frontiers black box approach held up the image that my ship skin money was actually going back into elite. Coaster and JWE look welcome in the stable. But building brabens business empire feels like a little too distant, and keeping frontier distracted which we already getting tangible evidence for in recent build quality.

Is there really 100 people working on elite if they're working on 2 unannounced games (from oa video)? That's almost impossible unless they have gotten many more staff since last count.

Completely an issue with my brain perception though, more power to Braben for doing things because he can. Brain recalibrated. Geez frontier products are bloody expensive aren't they? They're good at that!

Interesting that SC has offices spread out all over the world, and FD is concentrating on one location because it found three nearby offices inefficient. Says a lot about why Elite is up and running . <<legs pun alert, Commander!

Sounds like a meaningless promotional piece for FD with no actual useful information about their games.

I preferred the Braben interview where he claimed that "our expansions have been free" and apparently forgot that players actually paid FD money for Horizons. That one is located here: https://variety.com/2018/gaming/features/david-braben-interview-1202846009/

I conclude that FDev are doing well, seem to have a sensible head for business, and that Elite: Dangerous has sold pretty well for a 'niche game' (2.75 million sales as of August 2017).

16K screenshots are nice...

Until you see what jpeg compression does to them!

My imgur links are even worse as I have to compress them creatively to get 4k images below the 1MiB limit for unregistered users.

Frontier needs to let me upload multiple MB png images direct to the forums.
