Powerplay What could be a simple fix for garrison supplies

What could be a simple fix for garrison supplies (Fortification Only)

Maybe a simple fix to the oversupply of controlled stations nearby to a factions capital system

Make 1 garrison supply worth more the further you travel with like rare goods,

ie: 1-50 Ly = 1 Merit per ton
50-100Ly = 2 Merits per ton
100Ly+ = 3 Merits per ton

Thoughts?

Note. this would be for fortification only atm

So you want to encourage 5th column actions, why?

Why is the 1st thing you ask about involve snide gameplay? not all of us live to to ruin others fun you know,
besides fortifying more stations for the faction your pledged too is hardly 5th column is it, make it only work in open there fixed.

5th column is the oversupply which goes on now in "BH" Factions.

You are saying to make it worth more MERITS, but not more for the purpose of fortifying?

Sounds good to me.

How about fixing the 30 merits for an Adder or an Anaconda too?

Because I've been with PP since it started and is probably one of the earliest strategists that still owns a thread and still maintain it at this late stage of cycles, so I've seen a lot.

Those that prep systems near HQ are more mindless merit grinders than 5th columnists.

If you weren't aware, two or three cycles ago, Archon was prepping a system 200+ Ly away in Mahon space (A Wolf system I can't remember from the top of my head). It kind of kick-started all the anti-5th column posts on this section of the forum.

If we implement what you're suggesting, we're looking at a lot more aggressive acts of 5th column when the community is trying to reduce the effectiveness of it.

So I will ask again, what is your reasoning behind apparently implicitly helping 5th columnists?

Just so its clear I was talking about fortification of systems only not the preparation

Then I would agree and support the suggestion. I suggest that you clarify it in the OP, as well.

As long as we take into consideration that larger powers will reap the benefit more than smaller powers.

From a game play perspective it makes sense. From a lore perspective I'm not sure. In reality provinces further away from a controlling government should have more autonomy and so be more difficult to control. Having said all of this - anything to make fortification less mind numbing is a plus for me. And it's not like everything else on PP follows lore :) Give us a floating fleet for an HQ please :D

Okay how about this..
Distance traveled still effects value in merits to you ie: 100+ LY = 3 merits per ton but the effect on the supplied system remains at 1 ton for one point, unless you do the trip in "open" then see OP, still not sure how we could brings reports into this too.

Travelling 100+ LY in a type 9 laden with supplies in "open" could bring some very emergent game-play:D

I constantly travel 100+LY in a type 7 laden with 200 marked slaves. It's alot of fun and one of the main reasons this game doesn't get boring for me :) It's made me much better at spotting enemies, avoiding interdictions, landing emergency stops and jumps etc. :)
