What criteria do you have for your "home" systems?

...I ask, because I think I just found my new home. I'm mainly a bounty farmer, but I like experimenting with ship loadouts. My new home is...

- Imperial, but with a Federal system next-door (so clearing out my excess bounties is easy)
- Has two planets with metal-rich rings (lots of RES action)
- The planets seem to be orbiting each other, but with the ring plane at odd angles relative to each other
- Both planets have stations inside the ring orbit
- The system economy is high-tech/extraction, as is the Federation system next door

...and the surprise? The view from within the rings, catching the other planet and the star is absolutely spectacular; I've always rolled my eyes a bit at the idea of sightseeing (just computer graphics, innit?), but this one stopped me in my tracks. I'd show you a photo, but for some reason the screenshot didn't work. I'll sort that out soon.

No, I'm not telling you where it is, because you'll all move in and scotch my RES fun ;)

Can't scotch your RES :( hehe I aim for High Tech as the primary so I can setup the trade route to always have Home as A, must have at least 2 ringed planets with RES zones. Medium security for some protection when trading but not too high of a presence in the RES. Closet station is owned by the faction I am allied with. Good selection of ship parts. hmm lets see what else.. still can't find a decent station that will clean my windows so that's out of the criteria. Good bars and lotsa ladies is always a bonus. Oh and off the beaten path so to speak..

EDIT: Almost forgot, I look for pirate factions with a decent % im not sure it helps in terms of how many pirates are in the system but it appears to me that the higher the % the more I find in the RES,, maybe it's the Bast Snake Gin not sure..

So...basically, you want my new home. It'll cost you... ;)

My home system is where I first became allied with the Alliance...and happened to get lucky with one of the local barmaids on the station.

I set up home in Altair, for no reason other than it was the system I was in at the time I decided I needed a home to park all my ships in one place.

Out of curiosity...how long have you guys been in your home systems? I tend not to stay in any one place for more than a few weeks, mainly because it becomes impossible to efficiently farm a RES when you've got a local faction who's actively hostile with you.

I'm definitely staying put for the next couple of weeks, though, because I need an Imperial system so I can pick up a Courier. Oh, and I'm planning on supporting Princess Arissa or Lady Kahina when 1.3 comes out...mainly because Patreus is a bit of a .

My home system just "feels right"
I cannot describe it any better.

It's a good few hundred LS from the frame shift entry point. (which is annoying but assures privacy as I've yet to see another player there) I have an imperial station within 1LS from 3 res points. A federal, and alliance system within a 10ly jump range, And a view to die for! :)

I park my ars, er, ship, in Empire space near the home world at a station that has high demand for basically everything and really good shipyard/outfitting. Several high-techs close by, as well as RES, and extraction economies along with black market (station) and agriculture. This lets me change my ship configuration for trade, combat or whatever if one becomes a bit stale. Excellent routes for trade, enough variation for combat, and 200K clicks to Federation space when needed.

To be honest I'm too much of a wanderer for 'home system' to really mean much. But as a Founder I treat the Founders World as home. It's great, every ship and module is available for a discount price (though some one off deals elsewhere may be better). It's relatively convenient for most places and best of all, it has a permit system to keep the riff raff out :p :D

High tech with metal-rich/metallic belts (RES), pretty far away from Empire and Alliance. Black market should be in jump range (1 jump max). A bit further away from popular traderoutes. And a big shipyard should be there to remind me how exensive the conda is and that i should grind more instead of staring at it in the shop.

A independent owned system, With a earth like planet. And has a cute female lead engineer that grue up on a farm but loved technology.

My home station is my Python! It has really grown on me. It is a pretty good all around ship, it carries 192T cargo, which gets me 497K Cr per trip, with the trip being 12 LY between systems and a combined 372LS from Sun to stations. One is an orbiter and the other an outpost with a black market! It also does RES sites very well, but they are getting old as many don't like me here!

My criteria for my home system was Earth. Silly, I know, but for some reason I always gravitate toward Sol if it's present in a space game. I hunted for it relentlessly in Starflight and in Evochron I had to find a series of wormholes and black holes to get there (and it was the ONE planet you can't land on in that game  ). What can I say? Its home.

I looked for a home system that was (a) Empire system on the boundary between Empire and Federation, (b) Hi Tech system, (c) at least one station with large platforms that was within 50 LS from the arrival point, (d) had neighboring systems with good RES and NAV. I don't like to in my own backyard so the neighboring system needed to be good locations for bounty hunting. To clarify, I don't hunt bounties within my home system to avoid getting unfriendly with factions that control the stations that I do lots of trading with. That's why the neighboring systems need good RES and NAV, not my home system.
