What determines the Navy rank a mission gives?

Does it depend on the mission payout value?

Do combat missions have any advantage?

Or do they depend on the minor faction rep that the particular mission gives?

........

Im running circles delivering data and cargo missions in between two systems to rank up.

if there is any benefit to combat missions etc, i will try that route since these missions pay peanut even with ally standing and merchant/scout ranking.

thanks.

I might be totally wrong, but from what I can see they all seem to offer the same boost on completion. Does seem to matter the payout/type of mission, although that is my observation from my recent attempts at gaining rank.

Most of it is hidden away and is best guess but yeh id say its tied to payout an maybe rank type. After countless hours of mission running of various description for both superpowers i can definately say with 100% certainty that i have no idea really lol.

it seemed as such to me, thats the reason i opened the topic.

a high payout hauling/courier mission has medium influence gain (++) at ~20,000 credits (due to mission nerf), and a 5 million+ massacre ships mission has the same medium (++) influence gain.

i suspect both of them would just bring ~1% navy ranking at mid rank...
