what determines the type of pirates u get in a RES?

im sure this thread has been done before but i cant find it.

so what determines the pirates that appear in a RES?

sometimes i go in and the first thing ill see is a dropship or clipper. then i instantly know its a good RES and can make ~2M/hr in my vulture.

however more often i go in and i see cobras, vipers, sideys and adders and the profit is far far worse.

so is it toally random? Is there anything i can do to increase my chances of finding a good RES?

At the moment, RNG.

At 1.3 there will be 2 tiers of RES. One with low ore yields, good security and few pirates and one with big ore yields, low security and a lot of pirates. So it will take a little time to have proper fun in them.
