What did the quarantine building do

OK stupid question of the day: What does the quarantine building do? I reminder building one but never using it.

It wasn't really needed in the beta since diseases were turned off. I'm guessing from the tutorial you'll need to quarantine any new animals you buy before putting them into your zoo, and any sick animals will also maybe go in there.

However putting an animal in quarantine also filled up their food and water needs, so sometimes when my animals were dying of hunger/thirst because they refused to take care of themselves, I'd put them in there to save them.

It filled them up!? Omg I wish I had known this before all of my buffalo died...

It wasn’t a joy, though.
At some point, I had to rescue animals from dying every other minute, especially lemurs and they even had a dedicated keeper with both keeper hut and staff center in his work zone close-by. This was definitely one of the more annoying beta bugs and maybe more stressful than worth it ... but I mean ... I couldn’t let my poor animals just die without even trying, could I?

I'm guessing you're talking about your keepers not feeding your animalls?

See I had the opposite issue. Zoo keepers were always feeding my animals - usually over feeding them actually, with random piles of food all over the place - and yet my animals... Still refused to eat. They'd scream about starvation while standing next to food.

Good thing I had a "safety net" with the quarantine but definitely not something I should even have to use for that purpose.

I had one animal arrive in my park injured and I had one with a disease. I was sort of testing out the quarantine by moving animals into it before placing them and once it detected they were injured took them to the vet and cured them. Then one came up and said one had a disease (I think it was Guardia maybe). Without putting it in quarantine there's no way to tell. I assume in the full version I would have to research the disease to cure it but in beta the vet did it really quick. I know diseases were turned off so not sure how that one got through. I believe it was a frontier sold animal. I'm thinking they will sometimes use their animals to introduce disease to your zoo if you don't use the quarantine.

Was it turned off? one of my wolves was reported sick during Beta in Career Mode. Sending it to the vet did remove the disease, I didn't need to research it before hand.

Did you have to research the disease to cure your animal?

Does anyone know in the full version can we research all of the diseases or is it like the animals where it has to be present in our park before we can do the research?

Diseases were turned off after a day or two of the beta I recall. Maybe diseased animals were on the market beforehand...?

In the beta you could research the diseases. They were all listed under the animals on the research screen.

You can also use it to relocate hundreds of animals, as your trade center can get filled very fast. So if you need to re-make an exhibit from scratch, a large quarantine can be a good place to temporarily move the animals to.
