General / Off-Topic What did you do in your summer holiday?

After visiting LAVECON I went camping a couple of weeks later.

This is what I did one day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_gMVqiCTaM

It is the closing party to finish a week at "Buitenkunst" - literally "Outdoors Art" - camping in a wood, without electricity (there are showers :D).

What can you do with 20 people and one professional musician in one day? Create 3 new songs, rehearse orchestrate and perform them in front of and audience of 300 people to start the party off.

There is something for everyone, from digeridoo's to bagpipes. The refrain in the midddle song is 'Als dit de hel is, wie wil dan de hemel nog?' For the non-dutch speakers, 'If this is hell, who would want heaven then?'

There is not a lot to see as it was recorded on a phone in a big tent, by candlelight, although I am on stage somewhere, singing. Just put it on and listen to the music.

It was great fun to take part in!

Sounds like fun! :)

... the baby too, of course, Jeff! :)

We spent a couple of weeks at our island summer cabin(s) and visited a couple of medieval fairs and one early 17th century fair (musketeer era). While at the summer place, I was ill for a week and used the time to read and write - managing to write one novella and begin another.

I went to some lakes in the Alps with my family. It was absolutely roasting in Trieste (36C) and the mountains were cooler (27C). I didn't get to climb any peaks because we have a 7 month old. We did swim in the lakes though.
I bet it was even hotter in Sicily, JeffRyan?
