What distance does the Vive focus at?

I thought that the vive should focus at infinity. This would mean that if someone doesn't wear glasses for distant objects, then they should be OK to use the Vive without glasses.

But it seems that the Vive focuses at monitor distance, therefore anyone who needs glasses for a monitor, also needs glasses for the Vive.

Can anyone correct me on this?

On Reddit: this user has it pegged at about 75cm (29inches in the old ways), different to the DK2 at infinity and the CV1 at about 1.4m (4'9"-ish)

Will be interesting to see how it works out from an eye fatigue point of view; the Vive's closer focal distance will make it easier for arm's length work with the hand controllers, but less suited to looking out into the distance.

Objects much closer than the focal distance will tend to cause eye strain - as your eyes will try to naturally converge inwards.

Maybe not... we're all guinea-pigs I think!

My eyes started to get tired after about three hours the other night... Couldn't focus on anything outside the cockpit... [sad]

I had to put my Vive down in ED until they fix the AA and scaling issues. I can play other Vive games without issue for hours, but in ED I get an eye strain after half an hour and have to take a break every hour for half an hour or I get a migraine and I'm done for the day. Due to this I've put the Vive down with ED and I hope for FD to fix it as with other Vive games (Lab for example) I can be in the environment for 2 or 3 hours without any issues...
