What do I do with salvaged materials and Illegal cargo?

Problem #1: I found an ancient artifact and rebel transmissions. Since they're illegal, the first thing that comes to mind is to sell them at the black market, but that significantly cuts the profits. Are there specific buyers for these objects?
Problem #2 I keep finding "materials" near space wrecks, that cannot be sold and have no immediate use. What do I do with them? Please note that I play vanilla.

#1: The Black Market is the only current buyer for these items. Sell them there or jettison them.

#2: Hoard them for the day you finally get to play the rest of the game (Horizons). Otherwise, they're of nearly no use to you, unless there is a CG that requests one of more of those Materials.

Sell the stolen goods at an anarchy black market in boom. Preferably high population.. You will get full
Price for them.

(Last night I dropped stolen Painite on such a black market for 90k a pop, and ai relics for like 130k per)

If they are only illegal and not stolen, any high pop boom black market should do.

Sell legal salvage to a market or search and rescue in boom. Escape pods were going for 30k last night.

Enjoy your salvage. In 3.0 it's lucrative and fun.

That's OK. Considering most Boom painite runs for about 70k, I was fine with it. In the past the black market price of that Painite would have been cac.
