What do I do?

Today is the 1st time in 3000+ hours of game play that I looked at Elite Dangerous in my Steam library and said "I don't want to play."

Because I know that there was no update. DOWNLOADS is still empty. If I click play I'm just going to be frustrated by locked engineering screens. I'm going to get upset when I try to turn off modules on the right menu only to discover that it lists 4 AMFUs that I don't have. If I decide to chill out and go mining that it's going to result in wasted time because it's not working right either. It's been almost a week and I'm worried this is going to stay broken like Powerplay has been since 2017. Oh but they did give us a free bobblehead, eh? Meh.

So what do I do instead? Maybe someone can recommend another game? I don't like the childishly repetitive NMS. SC is a death fest. I burnt myself out on EVE many years ago.

I do like racing though... how's Assetto Corsa?

Maybe I should go outside. I hear the graphics are amazing.

If you launch the game, you'll find out that most of the engineering bugs are already fixed. Think remote engineering is still having some trouble, but I haven't tested it yet myself.
Also, all the miners on the discord channel I'm on are reporting that core mining works just fine for them, as does laser mining.

I also haven't had any extra modules appear into my ship and don't know anyone who has, and can pirate more effectively now that mines have been buffed.

My FPS is also better, and fsd transitions take less time as well.

I can say that outside are in fact some of the best graphics ever...………..
better than assassins creed odyssey in some places...…...

X4 Foundations but that game is a different animal. it is more about building an empire. If you finish the plot you can engineer a way to teleport between your ships and all the fun.

Outside does indeed have great graphics, incredibly smooth frame rate and head tracking too!

That said, this morning's update seems to have fixed remote engineering.

Workaround for multiple modules, in right panel, is to log out to main menu after switching ships.
Logging back in reloads your ship properly. Seems to work for me.

That in fact is sad ... having to work around bugs in the very core mechanics of ED, like switching ships. OP i totally get you, had the same thought.

Assetto Corsa is super. I've been playing it since it came out.
Nice smooth graphics, believable physics and an active
online and modding community. Highly recommended!

Race Room Racing Experience is excellent also, plus free to play.

rFactor 2 is my favorite 'cause its physics blow the others away,
but it's a bit lacking in the graphics department.

I play all three regularly. I even have an Assetto F1 server running
during race weekends at the given track . This week it's Sochi.
Good fun. For the most enjoyment though, a wheel is mandatory!

PS. Or yes, go outside. Nothing beats Actual Reality ;)

I've been painite mining ever since the update, and I make a billion every single night. There's no bugs at all except the odd prospector that goes straight through a rock and out the other side. I' m saving up for my fleet carrier carrier. I've been fighting a few pirates and scanning a few systems along the way. As far as I'm concerned, nothing changed in the update. Everything is working.
