Newcomer / Intro What do I need to play the game?

i want to start playing elite dangerous, but I haven't got any hardware. What do I need to have a great experience ?( budget of up to £1k, but less would make the wife happy!!)

i was elite on the c64, but that was nearly 30 years ago and things have moved on since then!!!

To play it reasonably I would say some better i3 or any i5 CPU and decent graphic card (GTX 750 comes in mind)

Then again, I play on three years old laptop with old i7 and GTX 460M, almost all on high. This game is pretty cheap to run, methinks. :)

Also, some kind of HOTAS joystick comes in handy (X52pro). Later on, TrackIR is awesome if you can spare some 170 bucks. And of course reasonably big monitor or TV to really enjoy all the stellar awesomeness

Hi

I've read the min specs, but to fair they are normally enough to get the game to run, but I'm old enough that I want it to run well and hopefully have enough pennies to afford it now. So what are people happy with?

I have a Q6600 oc to 3.2. And a GeForce560Ti (from memory) - it all runs very nicely ( occasional stutter but nothing bad. )
If I had£1k to build a new pc I would be a happy chap. Not sure about missus though :)

This is all solid advice. Any half decent modern cpu will do the job, intel are better but amd can be cheaper. The gpu is the most important component, so look to get the best you can. An important question is display- what resolution you're gaming at will have a big effect on performance. If you want a multi monitor display or 4k it'll really cost, but if you're happly with a single HD screen, your budget will be more than enough.

I can strongly second the HOTAS advice too, got an x52 myself and it's a great investment.
