I have noticed the same products for sale in the store for ages.

Does anyone buy them?

Do you think they should close it and get rid of the store altogether?

Would you buy something you liked if it was stocked for example a dedicated Flight stick or a Tie to show off at work or some cuff-links etc.

I'll definitely be getting a paint job when they're available for the other ship models.
Beyond that, i think my money would be better spent saving up for a gfx card upgrade :p

What new products could the store stock?

What about pens, paper weights, PC chairs, mouse, keyboards, clothes (I want my Elite pants:)).
Or comics and game guides ready for any Christmas gifts? Who wants plain socks when you can have Elite ones?

And a big one, a feature film maybe?:D

What items would interest you?

A question came to mind

How much would you think people would pay for scale models of the ships of elite (could include as a separate set past ships) 3D printers are becoming a lot more available, die cast metal, companies like Airfix for those that like to build models (pirates would be able to have there very own viper with the skull and cross bones)
There are, of course , boundless possibilities for merchandising , you only need to look at Star Wars and Star Trek to see what can and is sold, elite does not need to go down that route completely, but what hardened trader would not want a model of their Lakon Type 9 (changeable for profession and ship preference) siting next to them so they can see in 3D what they are flying?
I certainly might be tempted

Now that I've bought the game, that's all they get lol.

If it was anywhere near as promising as SC, I'd probably buy some additional in-game stuff.

I WANT THE LIFE EXPANSION PASS AGAAAAAAAAAAAIN:eek:

For me (foreign language) it was hard to understand at a first glance the Beta, Alpha and Elite Dangerous features on each, or something like a comparisson table (features) for eacho of them.

I did not vote, what I think is not among the options.

About T-shirts, cups, key rings, models: cool for those who want it, it does not impact the game itself. No problem to me. FDEV can go full-on here AFAIC.

About in-game stuff: it would be better if everything in-game could just be bought using in-game credits. Fortunately, they only sell vanity-items: if they would sell ships & weapons for real money I would immediately stop playing because then it becomes a "pay to win" game.

The available paint-jobs are mostly boring. It was in my opinion a huge mistake of FDEV to include 21st century nationalistic symbols in the game (yeah, I'm talking about the viper flags - Elite is not a bloody game of soccer).

So, out-of-game stuff and vanity stuff is acceptable to me, even if I'm not happy about the vanity stuff. Now try to sell me a new bobblehead!

the one problem with additional items for the shop is the cost of stock, T-shirts and mugs are sure fire sellers so in the end you'll get rid of them but some of the other suggestions? not so much. unless they licence ED products and sell other peoples 'made to order' items in the shop i cant see the range of physical items expanding much.

I want a real car shaped like a Sidewinder. I'd sell my current car to cover the down-payment on that. Imagine hurtling down the road in a Sidey - vroom! Ooh, road rage - deploy hardpoints!

As such a product may be beyond the scope of FD's business model, I might send an email to Jeremy Clarkson and ask if he'd be willing to take it on as a novelty project for an episode of Top Gear.

;)

Model to be assembled (Airfix, Tamiya, Revell etc.) would be very interesting. More there is of goods in the store, bigger, is the pleasure of eyes. To buy is another story...

Since you asked, its way too expensive for digital content.

At 50p per paint job, I'd probably buy at least ten.

At £3 each, I'll buy none.

1 - The a paint jobs are far too expensive.
2 - The literature needs to be on sale in the shop - digital and hardback
3 - Pre-order items and discounts fro pre-ordering things like the ship models.

4 - How about a limited time offer of discount vouchers or gift certificates. Buy a £10 gift certificate / credit note for £5. That was they get some cash up front while we wait for new items and we voucher buyers get a decent discount / price on new items as etc.

one thing about the paint job prices, there are fee's to pay on the transaction so if FD charged 50p each for them all they would be doing is funding the credit card companies.

It's odd that so little merchandise is available from FD. Any number of products can be licenced through third party sources at zero cost and it would be a constant income source. All you need to do is supply artwork.
