I personaly would wish they would work on improving the current roles instead of trying to force people to do something that they don't want like missions just to experience variety and not be in this loop (see sig). I want to be a pirate, I don't want to go about do trade missions or assasination missions I don't care for trading (or most other roles that nets me a profit) and I don't want to do it yet I have to if I want to progress.

I would like to see them fix the broken stuff and focusing on it rather than pumping out new things that will also be broken.

Hard to choose.

Bugs are normal thing, it happening, but there we have a broken basis of game mechanics.

Fix the current game of course and make things work as intended that are reported as not.

Everyone likes new content of course but it does not make the rest of the game go away. If you have bugs in your software, fix them now or pay for it later!

Well I voted "new stuff" because relatively speaking there's very little to actually fix.

I'd love them to rethink the RNG mechanics but we all know they won't. As for actual bugs, well apart from some small cosmetic stuff, 2.1 has been virtually bug free. Ok there was NPC superweapons bug but that was squashed within the launch week.

*edit* should add, I was speaking for the pc version. I know there are some game breaking issues on xb1.

*Mod hat off

Why missing the third option?

- Strike a balance between adding new content and improve existing one in parallel

To do list of broken mechanics:
1. Open/Group/Solo
2. Menu/combat logging
3. Dull powerplay merits grinding (interdict transport, kill, gain merits, repeat)
4. Dull planetary material searching (drive straight, search for metallic metheorite, shoot, collect, repeat)
5. Frustrating RNGeneers (collect loot in one week, go to RNG casino, then loos your one week gameplay for bad-luck module, repeat)
6. lack of storage function
7. lack of player lot/cash exchange function

Of course i like this game and it have a lot of Pros, like supercruise, ship feeling, scale, i like new mission system. I honestly wrote what need to be redesigned/corrected.

Gradual change!
When do we want it?
In due course!

This poll sets up a false dilemma, though. Existing mechanics can be improved and new content delivered in one development cycle. That's actually how FDev have been operating, as far as I understand it.

I'd hate to say it, because I really REALLY want some solid new content in Elite Dangerous that the Engineers and even Horizons failed to provide (player-owned outposts, bases, character design, and the ability to traverse the interior of your own ship (but not the station as that's nowhere near as important in my personal opinion) were all the things I wanted from the get-go). However, the current state of things are... well it feels abysmal. Powerplay still serves no effective function and isn't even being updated anymore. The RNG system for the Engineers feels like they did it just to push out the update and seems overwhelmingly out of place with the rest of the game, and overall, the game itself is still not where it needs to be in terms of basic functionality and depth with the features it already has.

Despite this though, Frontier is going to put all these aspects on the backburners and pump out more content. Because it's a product. No matter how broken things are now, they need to earn revenue to stay afloat, and revenue for Elite Dangerous, make no mistake, is dwindling. All the signs are there that financial concerns have arisen in the company. I know a bit from experience in this regard, and it's almost painfully apparent from the outside looking in.

The figures can 'look' good, but that doesn't mean they are.

Both. If that means less new features and less core improvements I am ok with it.

BTW that's basically what they did with 2.1

PS

2.1 new content

- The Engineers & loot

2.1 core feature improvement

- better BGS
- new mission system
- new minor faction reputation system
- USS scanning
- shipping lanes
- scavenger hunt
- better graphics
- tire tracks
- NPC faces and persistant mission givers
- new UI
- better drop out from SC
- ATC
- bookmarks
- new mission types
- nav beacon scanning
- fixed AI
- new weapons
- a few hundred bug fixes
- probably a few more that I don't remember

ordinarily I would say keep the content coming and keep chipping away at the faults in the background but the last 2-3 times that there has been an update there were some quite bad bugs and issues.... Therefore I say get the game optimal before tinkering with the next updates

Of Course it has to be Fix what we have, get that working as intended, get everyone back onboard, then onwards and Upwards!

Don't Run FD, before the walking has been mastered!

What do I want? I want FDev to come out and say:

"You know when we said you could pirate and bounty hunt other commanders... I really wish we had added the caveat 'If they want to participate'. It would've lost us a few customers, sure, but it would've cut down the repeated postings and threads..."

I also wish they would drop the "New Discussions" streamer from the forums, as all that happens is people dive onto the latest piece of contentious pseudo fact-pinion and argue with the OP, thus keeping the thread in view, so that it acts as a honey trap for passionate internet argumentistas and ever the circle continues.

I want better surface scanners. I know the current one works as I have had to use guides to learn it... The original ship sensor array is a classic of ease of use, why not continue in that vein rather than making things more obscure?

I want a regularly updated Bug list, with QA giving at least an iea of what is being worked on as "show stopper", "irritating" or "live with it" type gradings.

I want to be able to pay a small fee to send a comms message to a market broker I have hired in another system and get them to send me an up to date snapshot of the market prices there.

I want a forum with a bigger suggestions sub than a discussion sub.

I want a poll on if polls should be stopped as they are pointless
I want paint jobs for planets ( giant yellow smiley would be fun to encounter while out in the black)
I want my landing gear on the roof so I can land upside down
I want "Space pigeons" in little space helmets to deliver my messages to friends
I want to stop wanting silly things

:p

There are no important bugs currently, I think they should focus on next update, maybe increasing AI difficulty a little bit more, they are too easy now ...
