What do YOU do in E:D? +Suggestions for the future

I tried everything as you have OP. And right now I am back to trading because its the most consistent way of making money. Other things are more fun but after you realize how much time is wasted and you've only made 5% of what you could have made by trading you get frustrated and go back to boring trading.

I do feel exactly the same, though thankfully I'm sure we can put this down to balancing issues that all new online games experience. Its one of the reasons I made this post to see what things other people been having fun doing, as whenever I stop trading and rebuy my bounty hunting ship, It gets me wondering just how much left is there to do?

It definitely feels as though PVP / Co-op is the way to go in the future, so lets wait and see what comes about in the wings expansion.

they will have to add kill sharing or something. Currently who lands last shot gets the bounty and it only 3000cr if we talk about Durius conflict for example. So if wing of 2 people its 1500 each. And bounty doesn't change depending on enemy ship size type. So either is sidewinder or Anaconda its 3000 cr. Which makes you stick to smaller ships i guess. It sounds like they still have to do a lot of balancing.

+1 rep, Key word here.

Odd Jobs

Slowly and steadily making money and trying out game mechanics. I upgraded my sidewinder's FSD and changed to gimballed lasers just in case I need them. I tried mining, but I will come back to that another day with a bigger refinery. I made a few profitable (2,000 credit) discoveries while doing delivery missions, and also found a wanted ship that was worth a 13k bounty after blasting his shield-less hull. Nice! It has been a slow grind, but I think I am around 60,000 credits now. I want to save up to 100,000 or so and buy myself an Adder. I haven't found a niche yet, like "I am a miner", or "I am an explorer". I just get out there and see what I find, and try to make some money with whatever opportunities are presented to me. I am really enjoying it though, and I am so excited to see what the bigger ships are like.

I am headed for the galactic core but I am taking my time doing it.

A point of reference should be given here. Many single player games only last about 100 hours before they are no longer repayable.
Clearly not all and maybe not even most but my point is that perspective is important. Unfortunately for us the games that are playable for a very long time might not be good money makers for developers.

I do a little bit of everything. Right now, the game really is in its infancy. I have been playing since the last wipe, and I figure I have around 120 hours into the game at this point. I trade for a while, then I go do missions, then I go bounty hunt for a bit. The ability to do whatever I set my mind to do that evening is what I love the most about the game. I have 2 ships, 1 is a lakon-6 for trading and the other is a kitted out Cobra for missions and bounty hunting. I am debating about a bigger ship, maybe an asp, or just save my credits until I can afford a Python, or a different ship when they get released.

The clock is ticking for Elite. They really need to get a solid multiplayer platform rolled out asap. I certainly hope that they start to flesh out all the other aspects of the game as well. If they keep it too plain Jane, then there will be a giant vacuum sound around the elite universe when SC comes out. The DEVs MUST keep piling on content and challenges for the player base.

IMO Frontier made a lot of really bad design decisions which lead to the very basic game we experience right now. One of them was to not make a clear decision for a MMO *OR* a single player game. They should have decided to make an MMO and set up a subscription model to fund further development. The current businessmodel and the game in it's current state are two reasons which make E: D an epic fail in the future if they don't start to make the right decisions ASAPish.

LOL I don't know which E: D you play but in mine type-6 is superior as trader over an ASP. And a lot cheaper to run.

Once you've got a solid trade route thought out, maybe particularly a small-range one, then more cargo is more profit and thats all there is to it.

I am working at the moment, I bought a Cobra hull and now I need to fit her out. Basically I need her to take me where I want to go and be a huge headache for anybody who wants to try and stop me getting there. I am doing some missions and some bounty hunting in a well equipped Eagle and enjoying watching the equipment levels rise on my project.
