What do you do on long super cruise trips?

looking down in my eagle theres a decent sized tablet screen. haha would be cool if I could play some movies on that in cockpit while waiting for some of the far stations. or surf the web

I know, or at least angry birds space....

Don't get caught by the orbital authorities. Supercruising under the influence is the leading cause of destination overshoot.

Hahaha! Do the authorities give breathalyser tests? If so, right now, I'm pretty screwed then. Also the authorities seem a lot more active over the New Year season.

I duck down in my chair as low as I can and reset the camera. Then I stand up and try to peer through the glass on top of the cockpit.

It doesn't work since I bought my Type 6 but still works fine in my toy Eagle I buy (then later sell) whenever I set up camp at a spot for a few days

And I had to remove VR Desktop... I had a couple of random "white screens" for my main desktop monitor even through Elite kept playing fine and then a Blue screen 'o' death... I'll wait till it gets a little more mature.

I watch TV or browse the forums using a tablet - I run the second window for recording, so if it's a long cruise, I just slip it up like this:

and keep an eye on the screen.

90 minute? Is that a joke?

Hutton is no joke sir... I'm currently in my Hauler at almost 1600c making this journey - watching Interstellar and checking back every few mins. Don't know why I am going out to Hutton :/ but anyway I have plenty fuel but SC travel is mind-numbing for more than 5mins or so...

I'm at 0.18Ly with 58mins left... they seriously need to add the ability to hyperspace to different stars within a system.

EDIT: update, I'm now less than 5 mins out... the suspense is killing me even though I know Hutton is nothing special...

I tend to minimize installation and removal of the Rift due to potential issues with scratching the lens ( Oculus had some issues with dk2 in this regard), even if you aren't worried about actual damage to the rift, you have the problems of steaming up lens, getting sweat on them or just flakes of dust each time. So generally I just sit there and wait, sometimes i'll check out galaxy/system map, but as you point out eventually you get bored anyway.

My best advice is to queue up podcasts or audio books to listen while you play. I believe its possible to set up some control of audio via Voice Attack, but haven't looked into it. Of course in an ideal world Frontier would have implemented a audio player or perhaps even a video player ( stick it on that panel between your legs) to hel- pass the time on some of those very long SC ( 15-40 mins )

If I'm more than 10,000ls away then the goggles come off. I'm not too precious about how I treat them. They are only a stopgap to the CV1 anyway.

As to how fast I can put them on. You usually get some warning of an interdiction, but the few times I've been caught short I've found that they can go on very fast :)
