What do you do with an Anaconda once you have it?

LIke most players, i'm hopeful to eventually get "up to" an Anaconda. Great ship, very exciting... it seems to be the ship that does everything... Guns, Cargo, Jump Range... Fun!

However... well.. once you get there. Do you get Anaconda-size Missions?
with a 12,000,000 insurance price tag...
It's purchase price in upgrades...

The average Bounty remains 15,000cr... that's a lot of kills just to "pay the insurance".
(yes there are bounties that go up to 150,000 i know, but these are rare).

So why get an Anaconda exactly?
Why not stay with a Viper/Cobra/ASP and tear through Asteroid Belts and have fun doing the 150,000 Bounty/Hour (average based on personal experience).

Lots of people seem to get blown up or blow themselves up and then post on the forum about it.... not sure it's a good enough reason to get one though :p

I also d like to know, but my guess is there is no real activity implemented for high end ship yet apart trading,
btw you forgot to mention that those 150 000 bounty reward mission are easily done in a well outfitted Viper which is far from the price of an anaconda ;)

i have no idea, but i fly a speced up sidewinder for exploration. i dont know what its like to fly a big ship. get it because its big. and awesome.

"up" is relative to what you seek. If the Anaconda is your goal, good on ya!

For me... the only reason to get one is to say I have it. I'd probably not even fly it because of how much it costs to insure it.

Grinding for new ships is all there is to the game (flamers incoming...), so there isn't really much to do but show it off until you're bored.

Anything you want. It's the ultimate ship.

Need credits? Trade. Almost as much cargo as a Type 9, but much faster, better jump range, better weapons, shields etc. It can easily make 5-8 million per hour trading in the right spot.

Want to explore? 30+ ly unladed jump range.

Want to pew pew? 8 weapon mounts.

Want to mine? lol no one does.

Want to pvp? It probably wrecks everything in the hands of a competent pilot.

go exploring in it stripped down because why not

nothing better than cruising around the galaxy in a cruiser

According to the most vocal people on the forum, you should now grief new players, ram people in the docking slot and use exploits

I don't think the game is really developed enough for the Anaconda owners just yet. It appears that ED may have underestimated the rate at which players would shoot for the top, and weren't quite ready for it :) I am sure that high level goals will appear as more content is added.

In my opinion, the current "reasonable" pinnacle is a well-kitted out Asp. I mean reasonable there in terms of the insurance/rebuy and how long it takes to get it, as well as it's versatility.

I have my Asp and am having fun upgrading it - I do quite a bit of trading, but I'm not afraid to get into a fight either, and I'm going to switch focus soon (once I have a few rebuts in the bank) to faction reps and getting my titles with the Empire.

I certainly won't go for the Anaconda, at least not at this point. Even the thought of the grind makes my brain bleed out my ears, and as you said - what's there to do then?

EDIT: typos

Continue to trading and upgrade it everytime I have saved up another 50 mill. Love it because of it speed and mobility. Finding it fun docking and leaving space station at nearly full speed. :)

Just waiting to see how the and then the Panthe Clipper will be implemted so I can get my first bill or two. Hopefull we dont have to wait for to long i hope.

Exactly to these points.

Let's remove the trading element for a moment and just look at cars and substitute trading with travel as an objective. Do I need a Lamborghini to dive from New York to California? Nope, but you'd probably have some fun along the long stretches of highway in the heartland. A Smart car can handle it, but is it the most comfortable way to go? Probably not. Maybe I'd rather use a Winnebago so I can camp out in style along the way. Or maybe I want something fuel efficient and will stay at decent hotels.

The prices of these cars vary as much as their advantages and disadvantages for a road trip. In the end it's a question of what I'm looking to get out of the journey, tempered with what I can afford.

Its a very fun ship that can do anything you want it to. I can hget 35ly jump range with it, it is IMO the best trading ship in the game, it has more hard points than anything in the game.

Its also a good transport ship due to its jump range. I can pretty much travel to any conflict zone, buy and fully upgrade a viper, when I'm done sell the Viper and head back to my trading area in a very short time.

What do you do when you get an Anaconda ? you leave it in a random station somewhere to gather dust until they implement high end stuff to do with it, or unless you feel like grinding out in trading the 600-700 mil to kit it out, sure that's all A grade but being in an Anaconda you kinda have to get A grade everything, you're a big magnet for people and easy to hit, so without the A grade gear you don't stand a chance, and even then it only takes a couple dumb fire missiles to take you out.

Don't get me wrong, it's a fun ship to fly, I love the thing, had it all through the alpha/beta, but with the cost of outfitting it now, it's just too much for me, the endgame of it is just too far away :p

I would love to do missions but I haven't done a mission since my Type7 4 weeks ago (gamma player). Since then I got the Python, then the T9 and now the anaconda. The missions do not scale at all so there is absolutely no point even looking at the mission board after a T7, let alone doing any of them.

The T9 felt like a brick in mud :) It is slightly better at trading (compared to an anaconda) for 1 jump, short trade routes. For all else the anaconda will make 1-3 million more per hour because of its speed, manoeuvrability and jump range.

Exploring the same, a 40y jump range makes the anaconda an excellent explorer as well.

I like mine, I just wish they would add missions for all the upper tier ships.

Trade. In relative safety. My 'Conda nets me enough money to buy and equip ships specifically for the Buckyball Run. As Sams said above, it's much better at bulk trading over a longer distance than the Type 9 :)
.
And pew pew is fun when I want a bit of light relief :)
