Horizons What do you do with data point intel?

I found a POI with some wanted skimmers guarding it, so I destroyed them and scanned the data point. I've now got this data point intel marker in my transactions tab, but I don't know where to take it to to get rid of it. I've tried several alliance stations and outposts, including on the planet where I got it, and I can't see to hand it in anywhere...

Any ideas?

Option 1 : self-destruct (clears up the clutter in the Transaction Tab)

Option 2 : fly to any System that has an Alliance/Empire/Federation Faction as applicable, redeemable from the Contacts Panel (same you use for Bounty Vouchers)
Effect of Option 2 : NIL, you get a handful of Credits as displayed and that's it (2801 Cr in the OP's example, Data Point = Credits)

So unless you're extremely poor, scanning Data Links aren't worth anything. You'd be better off scooping up a few tons of Tea, Animal Meat etc.
At least those, you can sell anywhere, without having to travel upto 200LY to cash in a few Credits.

I got some and sold then at an appropriate station for credits. Most certainly did work! Edit: IIRC you get more if you get all data intel from a faction/system.

I wouldn't say it's "worthless", per se. It's kind of like the vendor trash items from other games. You just happen to pick it up while you're out doing other stuff ;)

Not a primary strategy for making money, but a little bonus that adds up after a while if you're the exploring type.

True of course.

But them being called "Intel Packages", at bare minimum I would have thought they'd help i.e. advancing in Federation/Empire Ranks.
Or something else of interest would come from delivering a bunch of them.

You know... anything beyond the 0815 standard "Pick/Scan - deliver - cash - bye" meme.
Something that makes me go "uhhh.... interesting, I didn't expect that" ; and that sparks or keeps the interest in scanning them alive.
