After I realized I had it... I immediately jumped over. I like it a lot. Not gonna sell it. I outfitted it with the same cargo configuration as my sidewinder (4 + 2) and put an extra gun on. I suck at fighting, but I figure I can use anything I can get for an advantage. I also added a better frameshift drive and sensors. I think I'm gonna have it for a long time.

Newcomer / Intro what do you do with your free Eagle?

I finally played the game in earnest last night. Initially sold the Eagle but now I am minded to clear save and keep it.
What do you remove on the sidey to get 4+2?
Only issue with keeping it I guess is I am likely to end up light years away from it when I might consider wanting to use it....

Remove the basic discovery scanner. If you want the same configuration on your eagle, you'll need to replace the default 2 cargo rack it comes with with a 4, then remove the basic discover scanner and put in a 2. 6 total.
I left mine in the hangar until I was making enough cash to equip it and afford the insurance if I got it blown up. So far just chipped the paint a little. Took out some vipers with it and collected some decent bounties. Now my loaned side is collecting dust at lhs 3447 while I bounty in the freagle and explore and mine in a hauler.
When you start a new game look at the system map and you should see a little orange ship symbol over one of the stations if it is not already in your starting station. Otherwise go to galaxy map and it should be nearby in nearest station with a shipyard.

Started off and just cruised the local system I spawned in looking for USS, found platinum .. nice...
Then discovered my eagle was local at another station, so went and switched it out, shame you cant sell the sidewinder for anything :/
Decided to fly to Earth, on the way I took a simple mission from the feds that netted me 12 grand ...
upgraded my power distributer and power plant, and got a gambled pulse laser installed on the eagle, now I am sitting at Abe Lincoln station above earth wondering where the pirates are so I can go bounty hunting, seem to remember some local route from way back between sol, barnards star and someplace I can only remember as FaceAche ( I think that is just how I pronounced it ? )
cant seem to track it down atm. only 3 grand in my pocket after the trek, bu was fun, I was kinda expecting earth to have the real continents mapped out and be special, but it looked generated same as the other blue planets
