What do you think of the E.D app?

I've just downloaded the E.D app and I think it's got potential , it's cool how it tells you what station your in and how cool is it that you can buy from the market. It's got all the info which is cool but it doesn't have the map, (yet anyway). I also think it should have outfitting.

I can see them making the app really good fingers crossed, Hopefully there's lots more to come can't wait.

The current state of the app is frankly... useless, but has potential.

I think the app will only be useful if they focus in the interaction between the app and the in-game in "real time" when you are playing.

For example, they need to provide the galaxy and system map just like the way the in-game galaxy map works.
It will be amazing if we can actually plot a destination in the app's map, and the destination will be automatically "update" to your in-game playing session in real time so that you can then hyperjump into your destination.


I believe the app is still under development so I am quiet optimistic about what it could become in the future.

where's the android version is my question. Your not releasing an apple version of the game for months but you bring the app out in ios not android? What gives?

offline yeah!!!..ok...sarcasm, the app is mostly best when online so you can plan your route when you are planning your route for a long journey and you can check you map on the game using your ipad or iphone instead of stopping the game to look at you map.......just a thought....

I always think its weird when iPhone get apps first when android has a much larger market share, maybe the devs all have them :)

On a plus note, their should be few bugs and more functions by time they release it to android users.

On an App related issue, I noticed that in the "Market" while logged into the App I see under the heading: Nonmarketable; A listing for "DRONES" Buy and sell price 101C, Average cost 100C. Not able to log into the game (as at work lol) but is this an option outside the App? Sounds like Drones will be coming, but would have thought they would be an option in "Outfitting".
To answer the OP I think the App itself is mostly window dressing at the moment, but it definitely has a lot of potential. It works faster and looks more useful on my iPad than on my phone, but at least I am able to check and see that my Commander is still in the realms of the unwiped ;)

marketing tool! that may or may not become useful later on, if the "features" are expanded and added to, but i'd expect we'll have to pay for that version.

And it drains the battery on an iPhone! Don't leave it in the background - taken over 70% of my battery today.
