What do you think of this Clipper build

EXCEPT, put in a Class 7 Prismatic instead. With weapons deployed, FSD off, 2 of 3 SCB's off, cargo hatch off, it comes out to barely under 100% power consumption.
Other ideas:
-not worry about weight too much and upgrade the bulkheads
-use CL6 prismatic, get rid of KWS and replace with another Booster. However, if when I go bounty hunting in RES's, I'll need to switch back.
-other

This will be used for bounty hunting and general PvP in PP areas.

Please let me know what you guys think, how you think it will work, and general opinions. Please be civil though :-D *ducks under the table*

I love those Pulse Lasers & Canons. For me you only need the 1 Shield Booster but 2 Chaff is much more useful to save needing that 2nd booster also and saves the re-arming times for chaff at docks.
Life Support D is 7'30" and is lighter.
Add Hull Kit if you don't require all that cargo hold.

Not worried bout the weight?

I think it would be interesting to see a fight between a heavy, shielded with hull packages, clipper and a clipper that is spec'd for lightweight maneuverability with no bulkheads, no hull kits, 7A normal shield or 6A prismatic, and boosters.

Since I own a clipper I'm optimistic for it but I've found it's better to keep your insurance costs down if you like pvp. I think another clipper and an FDL would rip that thing apart in under 10 seconds especially without a class 6 SCB. I don't think the SCBs would keep up with damage and I certainly don't think you would need an A rated thruster. I would take a C or D rated thruster to really save some power. I would run a B rated power plant to keep costs down but if you're rich get an A.

There's some debate over the effectiveness of sensors so you could probably drop those to B if you want to save power/cost. Here's a build I think might be a little more affordable toy with the bulkheads to get the insurance range you want. I like the idea of Hull Reinforcements but from everything I've seen and read I still don't think they are doing anything of value in small amounts including protecting the power plant. Glad to see you like the Clipper but it really sucks not being able to dock on platforms (but the Python & FDL can go figure).

Whoops that was a mistake. Everything is supposed to be gimballed. I'll update the link.
Also bumped up the life support to D.

Wouldn't you want the best thrusters for pvp? I feel like I don't really want to sacrifice on that. Also insurance shouldn't be bad since in a clipper you can run from everything. I was wondering if anyone would say something about the SCB'S but am more concerned with weight due to prismatic.

Remember you don't have to be under the 100% - you can run with it showing +100%. In a fight, with weapons deployed, you can set the FSD and the FSD Indictor (and the cargo hatch if its a pure fighter) to priority 2 and they will auto shut off.

Corolis.io does a better job of showing you how to power optimise it.

I dont know about Prismatic shields, but i suggest you start from this loadout http://edshipyard.com/#/L=703,4zg5TP7u57u501Q01Q0_g0_g,2-9Y9Y7_8S9Y7_6k,7Vs0AA7go7go9sK4zM7dg2UI especially if you like to PvP.
You can drop one SB or Chaff for KWS - what suits you better.

That's the weapon loadout I use. Here's my multi-purpose setup (I know the OP is talking PvP, but I like to be ready for anything ;) )

http://coriolis.io/outfit/imperial_...f.Iw18aQ==.IwBhrSujSA==?bn=Mossfoot's Clipper

Regarding Shield Cell Banks - the class 4 SCBs don't hold THAT much more of a charge than Class 3 (163MJ vs 136MJ) so if you're looking for a multi-role configuration I'd go with the 3s.

Also, fun fact, Class B SCBs hold one extra charge than Class A. While each individual cell doesn't hold as much as an A, the total energy you can put back in your shields is higher (3A - 3x136 vs 3B - 4x119)

You would think so but I've read multiple discussions on thrusters. The consensus seems to be that if you have under the optimal tonnage for your thruster type then you get the "better" flight module. If it is over the optimal you get the "worse" flight module. The other thing it affects is top speed which is really only applicable if you are repeatedly using boost. It's unlikely you will be repeatedly using boost because you would need to allocate pips to Eng from Sys/Wep (more important places) and your speed varies depending on how many pips you allocate to Eng btw which makes it even more messed up.

One or two pips to Eng often allows enough power to boost enough for ramming and avoidance. I'm sure there are players that go toggle central on those pips and really get into it but when it comes to the Eng area it's minimal. If you're employing some tactic where you range yourself from your attacker using passes chances are they are going to stay with you anyway. If you are boosting away to put a distance between you and them most likely they don't have to worry about you shooting so they are going to dump their pips into Eng/Wep and nullify your tactic by outboosting you.

You could make the argument that getting better thrusters on the Clipper would help increase it's wonky agility but the tradeoff for power/price and whatever benefit is questionable. Based on some of the numbers posted in other discussions about thrusters and turn ratio it really looks bad. If you could boost in reverse then they might be more applicable but players would probably go bat over allowing boost in reverse, it wouldn't be correct to physics either.

The scenario that it would be applicable to run better thrusters is running from combat/pirates typically after an interdiction, so if you are a trader or a pirate it's a good idea to have good thrusters. As a bounty hunter you might have to chase but chances are they will fight and they'll have an advantage if one of your utility slots is clogged up with a KWS instead of a Shield Booster or a Chaff. That's why I thought Prismatic shields, despite the gripes, were a good idea because they have a built in booster freeing up a slot for more utility. The power draw on the KWS is ungodly along with the scan time and it's only going to benefit you if you win but it's the balance to pirates "having" to carry limpets/hatch breakers.

Just my personal opinion again, I think D or C thrusters would do fine and save you a headache on power draw.

Nice. I almost suggested this "the Beam/Pulse" combo is great on power usage and it gives you the chance to unexpectedly peel their shields before they get an SCB off. If you can whittle them down with pulse and secondaries then hit them with the beam.

Are you sure about that 20M interdicter? 4D is very good already but if you got creds to waste then go nuts.

Clipper isn't much of a combat ship, double chaffed small fighter like a Cobra will dismantle you to pieces.

That's why I ended up with this loadout for multipurpose use http://edshipyard.com/#/L=703,4zg5TP7u57u501Q01Q0_g0_g,2-9Y9Y7_8S9Y7_6k,7Vs0AA4-49tu7fE7fE7dg2UI
Change ADS for second class 2 SCB if traveling mainly through known systems - Double chaff and 8 half of shields charges is more than enough for me.

Edit: As for thrusters: If I need to get away, low weight + A rated thrusters save me from wings (including wings with clippers) every time.
A lot of PvP Clippers go with 6 class + 4 class + 3 class SCB and even with 3 SB / heavy bulkheads on top of it - they just can't catch up.

I'm curious about the choice of Class 7 over Class 6 shields. A base 7A shield is 306MJ as opposed to a 6A shield which is 262MJ. And a single shield cell booster effectively makes a 6A into a 7A (actually slightly better - 315).

I'm just wondering how much of a difference those 50MJs really make. If you're in dedicated PvP I guess you want every edge you can get, of course, but if you're doing anything but dedicated PvP I can't see sacrificing the huge cargo space the 7 slot provides (and having to swap out a 50 mill generator is not something you want to do every day... imagine if the resale depreciation hadn't been pulled!)

With the new prismatic generators, I think the ability to go multipurpose and still be decent in PvP has been increased a fair bit.

60 MJ with boosters, anyway - it's just a little buffer in case of an error, for a lot of credits. I think it's OK if you can afford it. 40 more tonnes is ..hmmm.. fine, 0.54 less power consumption is irrelevant for my purposes.
If you want your Clipper to fly faster (pursuer role in a wing for example), or want transport more cargo - then swap it for class 6.

Prismatic shields - same weight as class 7, just a tad better, more power hungry - bad option for me, because I will need to sacrifice something else for those shields. If changing one SB for KWS will free enough power for 6 class Prismatics - then it could be a good option for a bounty hunter.

An update:
I have taken what you have all said in mind, and mixed it with some of my own ideas. I'm tossing and turning between 2 ideas (**note both include a 7A prismatic shield**):
http://edshipyard.com/#/L=703,4zg5TP7u57u501Q01Q0_g0_g,309Y9Y7_8S9Y8I6k,7Vs7gy7gy7gy9rs7fE03w2Uc
Which allows for a fixed beam, which has been met with much apraise it seems, but smaller SCB's.
If I go with this:
http://edshipyard.com/#/L=703,5TP5TP7u57u501Q01Q0_g0_g,309Y9Y7_8S9Y8I6k,7Vs7jw7gy7gy9rs7fE03w2Uc
I have 2 pulses, giving me good damage over time, but less burst (I notice killing any medium or small targets takes longer), but allows for 6A SCB.
What do you think?

ALSO,
I understand the concept of a fixed beam and gimballed pulse (and have been playing with it lately and do kind of like it). What do you guys/gals think of the opposite: 1 fixed pulse and 1 gimballed beam? The idea being that the pulse will be able to shoot more often if the enemy has chaff and not completely drain the energy, and the beam will fire between chaff rounds to deal higher damage, but allowing energy recharge between chaff.

Why the 6B power plant? A is lighter and has better heat managment?

B is armored and typically what players target when they want you dead. I know it's not as big a deal with the Clipper (some say because of the weak armor in general, others say it's not as easy to hit the PP as, say, on an Asp) but if you can get the loadout you want and get the B as well, I can't see why you wouldn't.
