What do you want to see added to the game?

What feature/mechanic/Personal Idea would you like to see added to the game?

No wrong answers here.
Feel free to give as much detail as possible.

If you think someones idea wouldn't work feel free to explain in a detailed and positive manner why in your *Opinion* it wouldn't work.

I look forward to seeing some crazy ideas!

Most f the things I can think of are elaborations on mechanics that don't exist yet or may never exist.
-Disable and board someone's ship, imprison and sell the people on board as slaves. You or your NPC copilot could fly it back to a station and sell the ship or keep it. Huge boost to piracy profits and incentive.
-Fist fight outside a bar in a station, get tasered by the authorities, wake up in jail with a 200cr assault fine. Or hide in the slums and knife people for money to get off the station. Everything in between.
-Buy a "house". Store it on my ship. Deploy it wherever I want on unpopulated planets and in designated spots on populated ones. Upgrade it by transporting "large landing pad" modules and "luxury habitat modules" etc. Sell me decorations for real money. Build an asteroid base or tiny orbital outpost in a similar manner.
-Hunt fauna on ELWs and keep trophies of them. (Leather vests and jackets, tooth necklaces, boots, mounted heads etc.)
-Eat and sleep upkeep. Different kinds of intoxication for different drugs. Different clothes than just a flight suit. Rented station apartments.
-Customized ship interiors and cockpits. Sell me decorations for real money.
-Real time loading and unloading of cargo as an excuse to explore the station a bit.
-Explore entire stations and habitat rings. Get in trouble for being in restricted areas rather than blocking them off (indeed some missions might want you to sabotage a station)
-Detailed differences when walking in low and high gravity. Bounding, leaping, walking, hunched walking, crawling and dying.

But most of all, more ships. A lot more.

Planetary hangers/bases/outposts.

With locations chosen by player. A one off deployable module or something.

Outfitting and restock should only be possible if you have previously hauled the appropriate goods their previously.

Automatic BGS Colonisation.

I really hope one of the future DLC or seasons focuses on game mechanics to support us spreading civilisation.

Not player controlled, but player initiated. Without dev input.

Walls of text are hard to read please use a space between ideas!

I lost it when I got to "get tasered by authorities". All really good ideas! I especially like the dying part of walking in gravity and would love to see that for the lolz.

Dynamic station/port size. There are many systems with minimal traffic, how do they make enough profit to maintain a large station? Downgrade functionality, in extreme cases downgrade the station to an outpost & have the large station re-assigned to a more profitable system.

I'd like it to be possible to build up a system (with traffic) & have it change population, services, security status etc dynamically based on the BGS, even if it took a huge amount of work.

I'd like to see NPCs behaving in ways that preempt our own ships' functionality. For example I should be seeing traffic to atmospheric worlds, and starports etc on those worlds, but not yet be able to land there myself because my ship doesn't have the correct equipment.

I'd like to see more persistence in NPCs between instances. If I see a T-9 in supercruise, I'd like to be able to take a guess that they're heading to a particular port, drop into that instance ahead of them & see them appear within a believable amount of time. And if they don't, pop back into supercruise & see what happened to them (maybe they saw my ship, loadout & rank drop into that instance & decided to divert course), just as I could with a player.

Similarly if I'm interdicted by random thug #4 in some unpopulated backwater it should be because they were in the instance with me (hanging around outside the station or docked) when I took the cargo or mission on board, then out-jumped me to my destination. I should be able to see other traffic that reflects these interdictors travelling to trap their own prey. This could allow Bounty Hunters extra gameplay by letting them intercept those NPCs etc.

A small thing but I'd like my local rep to give me priority for docking towards the back of the station, and/or to be able to insta-IFF any ship docked at the same station (as I can with authority ships). If I'm allied & a stranger drops by, I want to know who they are & whether they are trouble or not. See immediately above for why.

Reward the attentive.

Space...... legs...!

It works by being able to stand and walk around stuff. Would be super cool.. like, so, super.. cool!

The biggest issue I see with Elite Dangerous is that it has limitless side quests, and no main quest. Missions are great and everything, but it'd be fantastic if there were also npcs with personality and a narrative purpose, instead of just faces. I really, truly feel like this is the biggest missing element in this game. The 2.2 training missions made me realize how glaring this is. I want a clear antagonist. I want a choose your own adventure style structure to these main quests, complete with VO and all the bells and whistles most modern AAA titles have.

Oh, and I want a dedicated "external camera" limpet.

Faction navies using the paint jobs as liveries so all ships on one side in a CZ have their own colour.

Graphite for the Federal Navy
Ice for the Imperial Navy

Independent and Allied Navies each Faction pulls a Single livery to use

Under the "Contacts" on "Starport Services" we'd get a new "Medical Center" button. We can click that button to hand off Occupied Escape Pods. Maybe some Occupied Escape Pods create a mission option to return them to a specific station for a reward.

Under the "Contacts" on "Starport Services" we'd get a new "Humanitarian Support" button. Only found at a few anti-slavery faction systems. We can click that button to hand off and free slaves of any type, for zero pay.

Two words for this: Self Destruct. I would rather die than give up my ship, and if I can take you with me, so be it.
I would abandon Elite if this were implemented.

Things I would like to see:

Personal storage - A place to store plain old stuff. Why? Because it happens often enough that we need more space than our cargo bays allow for things relevant to missions. Mining missions come to mind - collect 80 Methonol Monohydrate Crystals. Yes, I've the cargo space for 80, but I also need room for Limpets, and the more of those I can carry the more I can mine, so if I can store say, 60 tons of MMC, I can carry more limpets, which means I can mine more MMC, and then when I'm out of Limpets, I can retrieve the ones I've stored.

Personal Base - A place to land without having to ask permission first. Who wouldn't want that? A place to store my extra ships, display accolades, or simply park myself without having to worry about anyone else complaining I'm hogging the landing pad.

More complex and detailed missions - We have a good framework, now just add the meat and potatoes.

SVR Trailers - Things to pull along behind an SRV, preferably things with additional cargo space, because 2 tons is just not enough.

Surface Mining - Not blow up a rock, but actually find meaningful sized deposits of materials.

That would suffice for now.

the ability to stick missiles and torps into the cargo bay.

a new type of torp meant for cap ship hunting no lock on ablility can be shot down by main mounted guns slow and have to run from blast.

ability to kill cap ship engines and then board it and take it over.

ability to pay other players directly. ( remember the max you can ask for is the rebuy other wise they will just go boom as they push self destruct or try to make you get negative profit by dmg you or having you waste more ammo then self destructing.)

ability to blow up cap ships.

cap ships move in fight.

conflict zones can be won (as in only 3-4 waves spawn in then they run when they had enough)

conflict zones around a station (since these are important structures this conflict zone can be all or nothing and stay endless till one side wins)

specialized ships are better than multi purpose ships.... t9 vs conda (not enough cargo difference to make up the lack of ability to turn, fight and escape)
cutter out dmges and tanks the corvette able to run away when in trouble.

it would work if destroying the power plant disabled the self destruct.
