What does the "blur" setting do?

In the graphics options, there's a setting for "blur". What on earth does it do? I'm seeing exactly zero difference with it on of off :p

(I always disable blur in games that use it to make every animation more blurry. Only keep it on in games where it's only applied to special effects. But I've no idea what Elite does...)

Interesting replies :) But the actual answer is blur does nothing except change the background on your Holographic display screens.

A simple test. Switch Blur on whilst docked at a station and bring up the main starport services display , you can make out details behind it slightly blurred. Switch blur off and the background is darkened. Probably saves some FPS on low end systems. No need to switch it off with a Oculus unless you have poor hardware.

I was also interested in finding out about the blur setting and though the thread was already gonna get lost.
Thanks for the answer, mate.
