What does toggling a bookmark as "Favorite" do?

Knowing frontier it probably deletes the bookmark, the system and the erases your save file for keybindings

Wondering the same thing. Maybe they thought of a favorites tab in the bookmarks section which could be targeted directly from galaxy map then changed their minds?
