For me, "Zaonce" means "milkrun" :) It's a "Poor Industrial" planet that will buy your food from Lave at double the price (in most cases) and you do milkruns between Lave/Leesti/Zaonce until you get more cash to start exploring the rest of the galaxy.

At least, that's how I remember doing it. Been 30 years, so might have missed something :)

I am always waiting to see something with the name Riedquat.
The edge of the Hell.
That is the Bronx of the galaxy, the far west of the space.
Full of pirates and bad guys.. it's a place where you must go with the guns ready in hands.

Always had worse (ok as bad) experiences in Beamera :p.

I do remember doing some Zaonce to Tionisla trips.

For the original Elite I used to ship computers between Isinor and Quiteri (sp is probably off as it has been 15+ years since I last played on the C64). They were close to the original start (you could get there in about 6 or 7 jumps) and they were very close together - about .8 light years.
