What Exactly Is the Point of Dormant Bounties?

Whats the logic behind this mechanic beside being another money sink?

I'm guessing it has something to do with suiciding to wipe your wanted status?

Another mechanic to suck the quality of life from the game?

Ah, here we go.

A Dormant Bounty is when you die with a bounty on your head, but not within the jurisdiction of the issuing faction.

So, if you're getting annoyed by dormant bounties. Stop dying.

I believe they expire after a certain time, or you can get them reactivated with a scan from the issuing faction, and then wait them out again, then pay off the fine.

not annoyed by it just doesnt really seem useful. I guess its to prevent people from suicide wiping bounties. Still seems stupid especially if you already died and paid a rebuy seems like penalty enough.

Not if you switch to a Sidewinder & Deliberately get yourself killed. Were it up to me, expired bounties would be followed by a period of Dormancy, followed by a legacy fine, with death not impacting on the process at all.
