What film reminds you of Elite Dangerous and why ?

I dunno, the problem here is that almost all sci-fi movies include a lot of human (or human/alien) interaction to keep people interested. In this game we're a pilot alone on a ship, interacting with other pilots mainly by blowing them up. I can't think of a movie that's similar.

Maybe the closest one might be "Silent Running" with Bruce Dern, after he gets rid of the rest of the crew and goes a little batty from being alone with just the three robots on the ship. There is a fly-by of Saturn's rings sequence that has an Elite feel to it. There are other sci-fi films that focus on a single protagonist (mostly) like Moon or Robinson Crusoe on Mars, but neither of those takes place on a starship.

Not Peter Jackson. I don't want to be in a cinema for three bloody hours... again.

I see nothing wrong with that. Except he'd have to have a cameo in the first half hour. Probably munching on an onionhead while the camera pans past him.

Call me Catpain Obvious, but wearing a rift and flying a clipper, it literally feels like being in Star Trek - especially when listening to the score:

Lots but 2 spring to mind tonight

Elysium as already mentioned, I was docking earlier at an outpost and beeping sound reminded me of Outland when the mercenaries shuttle comes into dock.

Most closely the Elite-like world in the film is in the film Starship Rising (2014). Film is really poorly made but corrupt federation and rebels is like straight from the Elite.
From television series best Elite feelings I got from Farscape. They had big cargo ship but those guys didn't know how to make money :D
And of course Babylon 5 and Firefly.

I'm watching Elysium, the story and space scenes just make me think of ED and am imaginary GalNet story arc of a minor system faction rebelling against its overlords.

Does anyone else start relating particular films to ED now you're playing it ?

Any other films that aren't Star Wars etc ?

Babylon 5 I know its not a film and it had aliens in the series. But it is the closest thing I can think of for Elite. Space stations use the same type of designs as do the Earth ships as they have no gravity fields like the Minbari or Vorlon.

The Lewis and Clarke from Event horizon reminded me of a Hauler with some sort of unfortunate growth. Prometheus is another good example. It's not the way the ships are, it's how "real" they seem inside if that makes sense? Horrible, dirty, used ships always seem more real to me then the lardy da, pristine bridge of the Enterprise.
