What Happened to Combat Bonds?

So I just fought in my first CZ under 3.3 and managed to 'win' the CZ and earn a 'minor influence' gain for the victor MF. When I got back to the local station there's still an option under 'Contacts' for the Combat Bond Contact but I've seemingly got no bonds (thus no credits?) to turn in. Is that usual with 3.3? If bonds no longer get awarded for CZ kills then what's the Contacts section purpose now? I presume there must be some other ways to earn bonds.

Ok, that answers a different question!

I couldn't find how to declare a side, so just targeted an 'enemy' ship and fired. That turned those MF ships all red, and the others became green and off I went shooting until I got the "you've won the battle" banner. I've since learned the "pick a side" option moved from the right-hand HUD to the chat box on the left. If the BGS effect on winning a War/CW links to the CZ battle outcome then I'm actually less fussed about earning bonds, as I'm sitting on a pile of credits already and a starport full of my ships. Pre 3.3 the BGS effect came from turning in the bonds themselves, not what went on in the CZs specifically.

But thank you!

Choose Side is now supposed to appear in big unmissable dialogue box on top of your Comms Pannel. Sometimes it doesnt.

Winning a Battle is supposed to help win the War, but in Beta it made no decernable difference.

You mean that ultra-realistic "Hello and welcome, we are actually killing ourselves, but hey - since we are in a computer game, please choose a side before shooting, kthxbye"-popup when you enter an 8 km radius of the CZ.

(I still don´t get why the game is not able to be smart and chooses the site for you)

You still have to declare a side to get bonds, so it also answers the first question!

Testing in the beta showed that completing the CZ objectives has minimal-to-zero observable effect on the outcome of a particular day of the conflict - it still depends on turning in the bonds, although this may have changed: the way the devs were talking and the way the game says "medium influence effect" heavily suggests that the facts of the matter should be otherwise. Does the status summary for the faction you inadvertently fought for say they dominated yesterday's tick?

As I didn't do the Beta I only read bits on the forum, so believe the INF doesn't move during conflict. I did wonder how I'd know which was the war was going, so will check the local news board next time I'm in that system. The faction I fought for was the one I intended to, I'd see the chat box announcement but though that was just announcing the bout "you've stumbled into a war zone between A and B", not realise it was also the clickable decision point for which faction to fight for. My approach of simply entering the battle by shooting something did then divide them up in the usual greens and reds and I got the audio "well done chap" for kills and the top right box filled up until the battle was 'won'. Funny, FD might go a step further a give bonds too on that basis?

Or, as I'm friendly/allied with both, and thus both green before I joined the battle, what I saw was the faction I attacked all turn red on me (bit like cops do when you shoot one of them) and then the other faction simply remained green. Then, although I got the "good shooting CMDR" audio, and the top right battle-bars moving, I wasn't actually part of the war as I'd not formally declared a side. Lesson learned.
