What happened to the Bulletin Boards?

I was exploring some systems on the bottom of the "pill"- after the release i want to go explore the empire sector, so i was trying to get to Achenar, but the "invisible wall" stopped me (as i expected).

Anyhow, during my exploration i have found a system with a single industrial outpost, which was selling superconductors for about 6k cr. I figured i can take a full load of those and sell them while i visit different systems on my exploration run. I was especially counting on the bulletin boards "we need superconductors!" missions.

Unfortunately, the boards in the stations i docked are empty! They open, show a "stand by" animation for a fraction of second and there isnt a single mission there! Not even the news tab... I visited maybe 6 systems, docked on every station: no luck. Now i wonder, is the area bugged, or maybe (as i was in the deep space for a while) a bigger bulletin board problem?

The mentioned systems are at the bottom of the pill, about the middle (bit closer to SOL): Hach, Seting, Hemsut (i think), i dont remember the others. Also, those are systems with milions of people, mostly industrial and high tech. I docked on the big residental stations, as on the every kind of outposts.

This is literally the most frustrating thing so far in the game. Even the hangar bug (which is fixed, well done) didnt make me so angry... What do you guys think, should i send a ticket?

Yes, they seem to be empty when you travel a bit out of the home systems.

Frontier would be aware, there have been a lot of threads about it. I imagine it's intentional rather than a bug anyway.

its not a bug, its the way its made. Its made because the more you go away the more populated systems, less populations and activites you can find. thereofff your station is probably pretty much isolated and have no mission to offer

Actually, no. I've been darting around a lot in the middle of the pill and have found plenty high population systems with empty bulletin boards. I suspect it is b/c the system isn't fully implemented across the entire map.

Agreed. I don't think it's fully implemented, and also it is probably intended to tie in with reputation. In the release build there will probably be some missions available at most locations in the immediate vicinity of where a character starts, but as you travel further out you'll need to build up some rep before they start to offer you work. Also the size and amount of other traffic, distance from major trading hubs, etc should all feed into the equation.

No proof, just speculation, but it would make sense.

EDIT - Also, there are some isolated systems right at the extreme edge of the frontier that do have missions, but there's no clear reason why these stations are so blessed. It just feels like an arbitrary spread at the moment for testing, and some interactive elements are not switched on.

This seems to be a bug. If there were not meant to be any missions in these systems, the Bulletin Board link should not have been there in the first place.

I agree with HH. I think it is intended that you build up trades routes yourself based on repution and reliability before stuff is offered. Otherwise i cant see the point of it...

I've been to the far end of the pill and once you get about two thirds of the way there the stations also peter out meaning you get nowhere withouy a fuel scoop.

While this is what space is really like, I'm wondering just how FD are going to address this in the game once the boundaries are removed.

We can head off into the unknown but as its uncharted new ground we're never going to come across a station again. If we're explorers it means a constant return to the frontier outpost at the edge of populated space to sell our data - we'll not be able to do it along the way.

This is going to effectively limit how far we can get unless we can plant outpost stations along the way, which I can't see happening.

EDIT: Maybe introduction of a friendly alien species interspersed through the galaxy would do it. Theyd have their own stations we could trade and sell data to, and this wouldn't break the fiction for human expansion. As along as we come across one every now and again it would allow us to refuel, repair and effectively sell data.

Should make it clear

If the contents are null, the heading shouldn't be displayed, in my opinion. This goes with the ship fitting section as well, although at least that tells you there is nothing to purchase.

I would prefer a "Nothing To Display" watermark so we know it's not a bug or a delay, and that the window is supposed to be empty.

Dude, i said thoose were systems whit milions of people... Do you really think the Eranin is the most populated system in the galaxy? Not to mention those system are closer to SOL, than the starting systems. Please read next time.
