What happened to the "Buy Exploration Data" button?

A quick question here, it seems that the button is no longer available when you hover your mouse over to a system anymore due to a recent game update. Despite the fact that the systems are extremely close to stations, their exploration data can't be purchased.

I'm not sure if this was a feature that was removed and I didn't take the time to read up on a patch's list of changes, but if anyone knows how I can get it please tell me. Thanks.

Sometimes it is there but red, meaning no information is available to purchase. So the only optionis to go there and either scan the navbeacon if present or honk the system.

If nobody ever scanned that system and sold the data, then the data isn't available for purchase. Admittedly, this is a little unlikely if the system is near another system with a station in it.

There's no red-coloured button there at all. Just a red system view map button, a bookmark button, a plot route button and a select button. nothing else

Although the star has a "fist discovered by" text when I hover my mouse over to it

There are key systems where you can jump in and see everything regardless. The "buy" button is red probably because you don't need to buy anything.

No you misunderstand me.

To buy data from other systems you need to be docked at a station with UC (doesn't have to be in the system you wish to buy, just near it) If you are randomly in supercruise or flight somewhere you can't buy any data iirc.

Yeah, it took me ages to figure that one out. It's a real benefit of being at a station with a UC and yet I've never seen anything in the game even hint that being at UC adds functionality to my galaxy map. It's a nice feature that is turned into a bug by there not being any in-game info (at least none that I've seen).

I think the buy-info button should be there always, but red, and bring up a message "must be at a Universal Cartographics to buy system data" if you click. (When you are at a UC, systems with no data can bring up a different message). This would teach us both that the function exists and how to use it.

Ok, just visited 4 systems with stations close to the system as much as possible. Went all through the list of systems on the UC. I'm trying to get info on ICZ ZF-O B6-4, the alleged place of a lot of shipwrecks and mysteries behind them.

Still no data.

Either a bug for me, or something else about "them" :).

Your ship has to be CURRENTLY DOCKED at a station, and that station has to have the "Universal Cartographics" button available in its menu, for you to be able to buy ANY exploration data. Once you are docked at a station that has a UC, that option will appear on the galactic map. Even though the option is on the galactic map, you're actually buying the data from the station that you're currently docked at. It's just bad UI.

Well dip me in buttermilk. Never realized all that but it does make perfect sense.

Yes, I did all that. I'm telling you, I found systems except for ICZ ZF-O B6-4. Think it's a bug for just me.

Ahh, maybe it is unmapped then...
Does it have a nav beacon to get the data from?

If not you'll need a Disco scanner, universal cartographics is not universal ;)
