What happened to the promise of Elite Dangerous?

You kind of answered your own question with the 3 letters "NDA". Unlikely to get any whispers from any of the folk that attended.

Surely an NDA is only active until such time as the content has been delivered - saying they knew about it beforehand AFTER it's been made public is pretty moot - try making that stand up in court.

The OP is asking if the stuff they saw was what has already been delivered or "something else", and if it was "something else" then that's all they have to say.

If Starfield is in development any longer it'll be giving Duke Nukem a run for his money.

And? the 10 years of Duke Nukem Forever was an abject failure, because of what fell out the door. A ten year dev time, in and of itself, means nothing until you see what was made.

It won't be too long when 10 year dev times for games will become the norm - because of how much more complex and detailed they will become - SC is going to raise the bar pretty damn hign for many aspects of gaming, and devs will be asked to replicate parts of that for newer games.

It's not like there's no money in it - SC has proven that, too.

Getting it RIGHT is the trick, not "how long".

Just to stir the pot a little, the FDev reps at the Meet-up at PAXEast said we haven't seen anything yet.

The way it was said implied there's a large content drop coming (someday.)

I'd be very happy about it if it's true, but I can't help being skeptical especially after how 2.4 was promoted and then turned out.

Either way, nearly two years in I still love playing the game with friends.

If I had a dollar for every time Ed told me how excited he was about something that ended up being a disappointment, I'd be choking on dollars.
