What happened?

I was parked (0m/s) near the entrance outside of Jameson Memorial, testing some power plant bug in Type-6. CMDR "I-Have-Nothing-Better-To-Do" rammed me and killed me instantly (I don't care).

1. Why did I re-spawn on a planet in the same system but 3000Ls from there and not in JM?
2. What is the punishment (if any) for his crime of a murder by ramming?

Is the station you spawned in the last place you docked?

If not, then it seems like a bug, that sucks. Only thing i can think of is something went got bonkers and you got an assault bounty.

As to the criminal, he/she will have gained a murder bounty for destroying your ship, as long as you were clean, but as of now, no Notoriety will be assessed. For the time being 'Ramming' crimes gain no Notoriety, but everything else applies.

And here I was thinking when I finally make Elite I can make my home in Dhez where people who live there have been playing a long time and don’t greif and Ram. Seems I was naive lol.

Last time docked was at JM.

I was clean and I wonder how big his gained bounty was. I know it has to do with notoriety level, ship size and cost, I just hope it's a lot bigger than my rebuy because if it isn't, there's still no justice in this new system.

I forgot to look at my rebuy cost while paying, it should be lower than normal but not by much, which is a shame really...

Without Notoriety applying, it will most likely be just a straight 5 or 6k added bounty.

Well as to #1. I died twice. Once after logging out on a planet and then logging in later. Another time after landing at a new station.

Both time I was sent back to a rebuy for my current ship, all the way to asellus primus, baker hope? Or whatever it's called. Yes you're reading that right. Instead of going to either of the closest friendly stations I was sent back to the starter base. Lol so it beats the poop Out of me what's going on with that one [big grin]

For reference it was more than 100lyrs from where I died.oh and more importantly no bounties or fines at all.

Their bounty will be a paltry fraction of what your rebuy was, which is why the station rammers are still at it. What they likely were hoping to happen is that they ram you, get killed from it and YOU get the bounty and the station opening fire on you. Since you were destroyed, they failed for the most part.

Sad state of affairs really, griefers have made a career out of it and FDev does nothing, and with their lack of attention, encourage it to happen. Best to just stay in PG or solo until they get off their backsides and actually give a damn.

A lot has changed. Except for including the ability to sit in open and not have your eyes open. FD are working up a plan for Ramming, but they haven't released any details. I have sympathy, I do, but some of this has to be your responsibility. You have many options at your disposal to complete the task you were doing, and protect yourself. Fair is fair.

I didn't say it's not my fault, I didn't look around because I didn't care if something like that happens, wanted to check something outside, took me few minutes, got destroyed, no problem. The problem is the LACK OF PUNISHEMENT for such behavior of murdering hobos. Is 5-6k punishment? It is not. Not even for a noob with 50k in the bank, let alone someone with billions.

So, I have to pay 200K for being destroyed and he has to pay 5K for destroying me. That's great. Nothing has changed.

This isn't FDev fault. It's a problem with all online persistent games. If you think this is harsh you should go play EvE or some others where you lose nigh on everything with death.
There are people in every online game that are there just to try and game the system or spoil others games... It's up to you if you let them or not...
