What happens if I change sides

The title says it all. I'm not sure who might be right or wrong in the conflict we have at the moment. So I thought I might kill for both sides.
My questions are now:
  • Will I be able to work for both sides at the same time?
  • If not and I have to switch sides, does that mean I won't get the good stuff from the group I fought for for the last 3 and a half days?
  • Is there anything else I should consider before switching sides?

Thank you for the answers, your turncoat

Yes, but you'll only be able to work for one side at a time in an individual CZ.

You'll get the credit rewards from whatever side you fought for. Or both.

If you get into a higher % bracket for a particular side, that might pay better than getting into a low bracket for both.
For instance, if you drop 20M in bonds overall for one side, you might make top 25% and get a nice reward, but if you only drop 10M for each then you might only make top 75%, and the reward for top 25% in a single faction is currently higher than making top 75% in both.

You can work for both sides - though you can't collect bonds for both in the same CZ, of course.

You'll get the cash tier rewards for wherever you end up on both sides. Obviously this might be lower than you would have if you'd fought for just one side.

If you fall outside top 75% on the Mafia side, you won't get the bonus module. Obviously no such penalty yet on the Empire side.

The Empire side is likely to be easier to get into a higher bracket in (fewer fighters, and they're on average putting in fewer bonds) - but if the Mafia side reaches Tier 4 and the Empire side doesn't, the Mafia side will probably pay out more at one bracket lower anyway. So there's some careful thinking to do there if you're trying to balance for maximum cash.

Watch your reputation - if you end up Hostile with one side, they won't let you cash in bonds.

Thank you for the answers.
The reason I'm asking is I'm in the 10% bracket on Liz's side and today it occured to me that I could grind empire rank by starting to work for the other side. The overall money in the end is nice but not why I do this. This special module however I'd really like to have (I doubt that I'll fall below the 75 % limit). Hence, I'm asking.

Another question: I've fought solely for Liz so far, but somehow have 500k in combar vouchers for the empire already. How can that be?

From a post I just read elsewhere it is probably something to do with the Reporter or Captain ship scenario/missions, a minor bug maybe.

note, you should make sure you are not already hostile when you switch, since that might get you killed when you approach the station/megaship.
Yes, might need to do a few missions for them to get your rep back up.
I jumped into a different system where they have a presence and did a few jobs/donations.

Good catch. My unscrupulous self decided to play both sides, and nearly got killed at Prelude to Victory. Took my Vette from 76% hull down to 13%.

If you want to change sides at some point and your ship is still a'kicking and a'fighting then, H-jump out of the Conflict zone and then turn around and drop back in.
Then choose the other side in your coms tab when you get the opportunity, Happy shooting.
