what does really happen if i choose criminal life and get catched by autorithies ?

If your ship explodes you automatically eject in an escape pod that will take you to the nearest space-station. You lose your ship, equipment, and cargo. I think your ship is insured so you'll get a replacement, but no replacement of cargo or equipment.

If you commit crimes in high security systems that are reported to the authorities, you receive a bounty on your head from the faction that owns the system you're in and fines too that have to be paid if you want to use that factions stations. NPC police and player Bounty Hunters will come after you if you don't flee the crime scene. I think it may be possible for Bounty Hunters to track you down too. There are no jails or penal colonies as far as I'm aware, although they'd be a good addition in my opinion  In anachry systems I don't think there are any severe penalties for criminal activity.

We had a lot of speculation on these two points back when the Kickstarter was going.

The death one was never satisfactorily nailed down. As Erimus says, when you're flying ships it only requires a simple story device to just make the escape capsules indestructible, which solves the issue of a persistent universe and multiplayer nicely. However, that solution doesn't work when they add the planned "walking around" expansion.

The obvious solution to me was to have digitised consciousnesses, but that wasn't massively popular. So the only remaining solution will be that you magically get saved by the medics and brought back from near death (with all your limbs reattached) a few seconds after you've been torn apart by the animal you were hunting.

The criminal one was far easier, as it mirrors real life fairly well. Punishment (fines/confiscation) and criminal records, where having a criminal record prevents you from doing certain things (i.e. no trader would hire a pirate to escort them) and where that criminal record is expunged after a certain time.

You don't pass go and you don't collect £200 :D

If you're playing in Ironman mode and your ship is destroyed and you haven't invested in an escape pod or don't use it in time, your character dies. You then have the option to ressurect your character in normal mode.

In all other cases, getting shot down results in your being sent to a space station in an escape pod, where a type of insurance kicks in to replace your ship. You will have to pay an excess though, and you don't get compensated for lost cargo (I think); and if you owe the authorities any fines in that system you have to pay them before you can leave. If you're broke you might choose to perform some missions for that authority to pay of that debt.

if its in Imperial space and you cant pay your depth ,
then you might become a slave to pay of the bounty.

just speculating...

Actually adding a jail for heavy crimes after walking extension would be cool. It would add gameplay to walking side, like breaking out crew or friend or other player, bribe off officials, breaking out yourself...if it course doable without handcrafting much of content.

It's a game though. So, with the exception of those with a very perverse bent, slavery and prison would not be fun.

Thinking about it that also applies if it's not a game, but you know what I mean :) .

I love the idea of jail time for very, very naughty players who are caught. This could include being captured by an opposing faction as well as general criminality.
Prison time shouldn't be sharing a cell with a gnarled, horny dock worker but should be something like using a shuttle to shovel crap from point A-B.
I'm perverse, I know.

I prefer stripes to orange! :)

Actually, there is a possibility of something analogous to jail time; or, more accurately, the sin bin in ice hockey.

The group structure allows FD to add a sanction for people-that-they-don't-like, for example griefers, that's not as drastic as banning. They just get forced off into a sin bin group, where they stay for a period of time. If they continue with their negative behaviour there, their term there is extended.

Note that people who commit normal crimes like piracy & murder, slave running, etc. would never get forced into that sort of group.

That's good to know but it wasn't what I was thinking. I was hoping for a punishment mission to successful criminals who had been caught. Just to add to the risk/reward aspect.
I know it wouldn't be everyones cup of tea but - don't do the crime if you can't do the time. Or . . .
If you don't like the tea, don't do the spree!

I love how you said 'normal crimes', Bromley. :D

Apart from your ship and equipment being destroyed, as a criminal you will be sent to a penal area. You will then be issued with an orange Sidewinder (ship class) to clean planetary orbital paths of debris and dead satellites. These ships are computer locked to particular penal planets, so there is no running off. You do the crime and get caught, you pay for it.

If per chance you have someone (a friend with the right equipment) hack the computer of the Sidewinder you and your (hacking friend?) will now be on the run. Well then ... at this point you are left for bounty hunters like myself to come and get you, to rinse and repeat your lock up process, just this time with a longer sentence. I suggest you think wisely before entering a life of crime pilot, there are costs.

N.B. We can only hope something like this might happen. Who knows? ^_^;
