Newcomer / Intro What Happens When You Exit a Game Mid Flight on Landed on Planet?

Hey Y'all

being a busy dad, i sometimes have to grab a fix of "ED" when\where i can. At times this may mean being interrupted or drawn away from a game before i can get a chance to actually dock anywhere. What i would like the community to answer is:

Q: What happens to my ship\contents etc, if i exit a game whilst in Mid-Flight, or whilst landed on a planet surface.?
Q: Does my ship just become vulnerable to attack, by anyone that finds it whilst i am offline?

Generally you'll be fine, on planets certainly. In space I've heard of people getting stuck inside a planet if the orbit rotates round to where they are - given how much space there is this is unlikely!

So other than that if you're not runing the game then your ship isn't in the game.

most of the time, i have to exit the game entirely mid-flight or otherwise, so i guess in that instance i am not running the game, so am protected...

So other than that if you're not runing the game then your ship isn't in the game.

As an aside, do you know what happens if you have to pull the plug mid-combat? Do you just exit and to the other player, you disappear?

There is a 15s delay in you leaving combat during which time your ship is undefended. Once that timer expires then yes you just disappear.

There are other ways to do this out of game to make it instant but that will get you warnings from FD and is known as COMBAT LOGGING. The above is also frowned upon as it is using game mechanics to prevent ship destruction, not really the way FD intend the game to be played but it does at least allow you to shutdown when the real world needs your attention. Ideally do not use this mechanic to avoid death by combat.

nope being a Dad in a busy household normally requires me to pull away from the screen at inopportune moments, as long as i can safely exit in space or on planet, then i am good, combat i'll want to finish to increase my rating
