What happens when you pick up Cargo from a destroyed wanted ship?

So, I see all this cargo laying around that I am afraid to pick up. That makes no sense. If I pick it up what can I expect? Can I sell it at an outpost? Does it have to sell on the black market? What happens if I get scanned? I learned the hard way on rares. Apparently antique weapons were illegal and I decided to swing by the NAV beacon to get a few bounties. I get scanned and I am out 25k. I than have to take time to go to that station and pay the fin or else. I think the illicit cargo thing needs to be looked at a little more. Being able to pick up and sell cargo without having to fight off every fighter in the universe would really make the game a lot more fun.

Do you have the paper manifest from where you bought the goods? Can you call someone to verify that you purchased these goods at a proper market? Without a proper trace as to where the goods came from, then you are going to have to smuggle them into a station and sell them to a shady dealer in some dingy bar. Or take them to a pirate outpost and trade out in the open.

So, if I do pick it up....try not to be scanned? Try to shoot through the opening of a station with a black market? Or an outpost with a black market?

I would not suggest shooting through the opening, unless ship destruction is high on your goals list. Go to an outpost, its easier.

I've pretty much got the shooting through the opening down pretty good. Being scanned with Antique Weapons is also expensive.

The reason I ask this is I killed a ship yesterday and left behind a bunch of canisters of gold, silver and palladium. Probably about 150k worth.

the fines and rep downgrade could be alot more then the value if you do not make it

Ooh that was lovely salvage, should have taken it. Keep a note of stations with black markets around you.
When zooming in through the slot, try and reduce your heat signature, turn off shields, lasers anything you don't need to land, and turn on silent running at 7km out, pop the landing gear inside the slot and throttle to 0 as you enter. You should stop before the back, although I've been behind that big round plate at the back a few times.

No risk, no fun! :D

Equip a heat sink launcher and start running silent ~8km in front of the station when docking, if you want to reduce the risk ..

I'm currently smuggling nearly 450t of Battle Weapons in an anaconda, THAT gives you a nice adrenalin-kick

if you are lined straight up with the entrance you have no chance of being caught with or without heatsinks, I don't even think you'd need to boost the cops are pretty ditzy - its the side angle approaches where its risky, but even then i always just go fast the only time i actually get caught is if im docking normally because i forgot what was in my inventory lol.

Also, if you have chaff launcher installed, just approach normally and if you get "scan detected" launch chaff and it disrupts their scan. This is how I do my smuggling.

Ah, I will have to try this one. So far I have been pretty successful flying through the entrance.
