I'm just curious, what happens when you quit the game?

I've tried to always be docked at a station on the assumption that I'm safe because of the no fire zone etc.

But what happens when you exit the game whilst flying in regular space or using the super cruise? Could you come back and find yourself all blown up?

If your not in a combat situation - it saves as normal and you will appear back where you started but in normal space, not in frame shift.
If you are in a combat situation you have to await the 15 second time out so you could be shot down in this time, but you have the option to cancel this.

Your very safe just saving in any location and in an frame shift state unless its a transitional state, once you have saved your safe and you disappear from the instance you happened to be in.

If you quit in deep space with no one around you'll be fine, you'll find yourself floating around next time you start the game. In combat situations you have to wait 20 seconds before the game quits and saves and I'm not sure what happens when you come back, I never did that because it's not the smartest way to quit the game.

One more thing....where does the save happen? I'm wondering if I can pick up where I left off but in another computer? Eg, switch over to a laptop for traveling.

Your save is held on the servers, so if you install the game on another computer you can simply pick up where you left off.
