What hardware do you need to run a VR headset?

I have a two and half year old system (i7 4770/770gtx 4gb/16gb ram/500gb ssd/1t raptor hd/1000w PS). I can run the game on all ultra settings perfectly smooth, but can only use Anti-Aliasing on the MLAAX2 setting and supersampling at 1x.

Ive heard a lot of talk about the new VR sets like Oculus Rift and how much more immersive it is. But I'm thinking my system wont come even close to running it as (i think) it runs at much higher resolution? Also there is a screen for each eye? So that would mean even at the same resolution it would take twice power to run? Just wondering if someone that is using VR, could verify its "glorious" immersion and what hardware you are using to run it.

Will my PC be good enough for VR with an upgrade? Say if I bought another 770gts? Or do i need a new system?

Thanks for that. I do seem to meet the requirements, except that... 980gtx... which i think is like 2 of my cards put together? Also I wonder if you can run the game at max settings using VR even with a 980gtx.
get another one of your gtx 770 and you are fine! There will be a Special Version of SLI called VR SLI with that each of your Card adresses one of the Screens in the VR Headset!

Bigger the video card the better, you won't run a 770 on ultra settings without framerate drop.
But if you are on a budget, 770 will run fine on high settings, at bearable framerate.
Of course if you have a spare kidney to sell, by all means, get the 980, I would.

Special version called "VR SLI"? I like it... Almost thinking my system might be perfect for VR now.. Its just the 980gtx "or better" requirement.. "Or better"? Im scared.
