What has happened to HIRES sites?

Just spent two hours between three different HIRES sites in three systems. The biggest ship I saw? A Diamondback Scout. What's going on here? Are there no longer NPCs in large ships? What am I to do in my FDL with no large prey to hunt? Sorta feel like I just wasted two hours.

It's possible to make ~15 milions in single run. But you have to reset instance ( log out and log in ) 30-40 times...

Your about a month late with this discovery bud. No more easy pickings. Devs are making us work for glory now.

I'm not sure the current system is actually working as intended. I feel that some random number generator is broken or something. Like AveMe said, you can keep resetting the instance by logging out and back in a few (read many) times. Eventually you will get a RES spawning large ships. No more Condas (like in 1.2), but plenty of pythons, clippers, and FDS plus the assorted small ships. Then you can have some good fights and make some good money. Stay there as long as possible and then cash in.

I think I saw something about HI and LOW RES having nothing to do with ship size. Rather it only impacts the AI quality. Something like more Dangerous thru Elite AI pilots appear in a HIRES.

My 2 cents: what I would prefer is a balanced assortment of all types of ships at every RES. HI and LOW RES should have numbers tweaked to produce more or less tough enemies respectively. I would rate toughness by combination of the following factors: AI rank, NPC wing size, NPC ship type, and NPC ship loadout.

Just wondering...
how are u supposed to make money if ships that worth it are in CZ and therefor only bring you a few cents per kill...?
Sounds strange to me.
Plus I can't find a reason why big ships would avoid RES...?
Not quite realistic to me.

Seems like the game is designed to break the player huh?

CZ's should pay WAY more given the likelihood of death.

Devs are making us play GTAV instead.
i fixed that for you.

any game that requires you to quit and restart in order to get some fun out of it risks the player quitting but not restarting. i think the killer for me was literally falling asleep while waiting for more enemies to spawn. after that happened 3 or 4 times i asked myself "why am i doing this?" - that, combined with the most lucrative missions becoming more rare after 1.3.07* led me to look elsewhere for my enjoyment

i miss the old RESs and all their clunky Anaconda farming

* maybe coincidental, maybe not. but instead of 5 or 6 a day i now see 1 every 2 or 3 days. if i can be bothered to look, that is.

When going into HIRES check "state" of the system.
you need to find a system with HIRES AND in either political upheavel, civil unrest or ciwil war.
Then the good spawns will flow like faeces from a newly born calf ;)

cheers Cmdr's

Make's absolutely no difference. You can find a system that is perfectly happy and log in/out and get an instance that will lands you millions...

^^This^^

To be honest I prefer smaller ships in RESs, seems more "realistic" (that term is used very very loosely in this context) - bigger NPC pirates *might* gate crash a RES if they are guaranteed some nice juicy prey but it is more likely that the smaller ships take their chances against the miners. Jumping in with an A rated combat Conda would be like using a thermonuclear device to shoot fish in a barrel!

I often drop in to a RES or a Nav for a spot of bounty hunting. Sometimes there is prey, sometimes not. When there isn't I don't start logging off and on or just hang around to see if anything turns up. Back in to SC and start interdicting. Plenty of wanted ships cruising about.

I've jumped into h-res last night. First instance, only big ships (clippers, dropships, pythons, no anacondas though). One hour later i had 2M more on my bank account.

That RES wasn't broken :D

+1 for name. You were lucky, my biggest ship was an Adder.

Missions give you big ships, and the AI is better than typical large ships in RES, I just picked up one mission for 400k and got 270k for the bounty and that took 5 mins to do. yeah sure it's not regular large ships like a RES, but if you can find 3 close systems that give out these mission then you find the missions are regular.

You'll never guess what I found in a res the other day...
a wanted asp after hundreds of reses!, a 60k bounty asp, not just a accidental 400 cred one.
that must mean they are in the spawn pool, but maybe at 0.01%.

think about it though, res sites aren't actually for collecting bounties, they are for the miners.
and if you've ever mined you don't want the big ships turning up all the time.
weve all got to get our electronic crack somehow and some cats like to mine.

but I totally agree, its all very predictable when they do spawn. ( apart from the asp I mentioned ;) )
fingers crossed they'll sort something out later on down the line when they get back to the spawn tables and make it a bit more random.

if <one trouser leg rolled up> then spawn <vulture/python/dropship/clipper>
good luck.

1. No need to exit to menu for reset. Just go 5+ km outside the asteroids, turn around, then activate SC.

2. To have more chances for big ships with large bounties, find a non-anarchy system with an anarchy faction with more than 20% influence. The more the better. And system population might count too. More populated, more bounties.

If you have a reasonable PC, its quicker to quit to the menu.
