I just saw the latest trailer for the new "Solo" movie.
I'm not a total SW nerd but I was a bit shocked to see that, apparently, the Millennium Falcon now looks like a flying ice-cream cone.
I've read some of the comments and theories about it but I'm still left with the fundamental question: WHY?
What was actually wrong with the original Falcon that they felt any need to change it at all?
"It's a detachable cargo pod"
"It's a cover for the cargo-grabbing mandibles"
"It's something that's broken on the Falcon"
"The Falcon was customised"
Cobblers.
If that was true, we'd have seen other YT-1300s in the SW franchise looking like an ice-cream cone.
There have been several others in the movies and plenty more in the games and EU and they have ALL looked exactly like the Falcon.
It'd be a bit of a stretch to assume that they're all in exactly the same condition as the Falcon.
Course, the cynic in me understands that it's really just been done so that they can flog a whole new range of toys because your old Millennium Falcon model just ain't where it's at any more.
In which case, you've got to wonder about the initiative of the model designers.
It looks crap.
Surely they could have come up with a better design for the "new, improved" YT-1300, rather than just giving it a pointy nose?
