If you fancy an extra blast and dont mind a bit of wiring for the mic i recommend getting a Turtle Beach DSS2 unit. Will add more Bass and helps make the 7.1 work without the need for a PC!

Stupid question from a traditional gamer: Do the headsets really give decent surround sound? How do you connect them to the Xbox One? My gaming setup is old school. Denon AVR 7 x 150W receiver with a pair of Neat Mystique II floorstanders, and ELAC surround speakers. Took about 3 months to balance the sound, but the sound for ED is just unbelievable. With a nice big LCD telly in the middle, I'm in the game. Not sure I'd like to play with headphones, but hey, it's my house and I'll make as much noise as I want.

In a nutshell, yes. I can place station tannoys and craft behind me as I fly, so imo it works.

I'm another Astro a50 user...took me 3-days to wrestle them into submission and work. When they work they are something else but before I would strongly recommend that people Google them and their faults before buying them.

Amazing tech! Had a quick look at the manual. Last time I looked at cans, they were £30 Sony ones with a 1/4" jack. Hah. Thanks for the reply. :)

I use my Harman Kardon dolby digital 7.1 home surround set.

And if the wife is near me, i use the Xbox Headphone with mic. (pretty neat sound in that one actually)

I used to have some A50's but they broke after less than a month. Electrical fault they were on but wouldn't work and wouldn't turn off. Took them back to the store and the only headset in the price range they could exchange it for was a set of Turtlebeach XP510's which i still use to this day. Great sound quality. Work better on my Xb1 than they did my 360.

just in the last week or so I got a pair of Turtle beach, nothing special but I plug them into the adaptor in the controller and the sound is fantastic, i think theres alot of sounds not coming thru the connection in the back.

Make sure to get cloth ear pads that let the skin around your ears breath.

If you set the Team Speak thresholds properly, it eliminates all echo and your teammates won't hear any background noise. I love the way you can cut the mike simply by raising the boom to the upright position. Work great. Comfortable, great sound, easy to set up and the convenient boom activated mike on/off are all big pluses.

It's the price that hurts.

Mostly extremely loud Studio Monitors, Cam for Facetracknoir plus built-in mic and it still follows me ok.
Or sometimes AKG K271 Studio MKII semi-closed headphones. Cam mic works ok enough.

I'm using a pair of Tritton Kunami, The ear pieces cup better than turtle beach and the sound quality is unparalleled. The price was very good too, anyone in the UK.Tesco £35.
