What HOTAS would you recommend?

Ooh, that's interesting. :) Thanks for that. I had pretty much ruled out the Warthog (even though it looks great & would probably outlast me) because the lack of yaw was a deal breaker.

Yes, I've since read that the X56 has a twisty-stick, but I was also reading in the same review that it can suffer from drift, and you can't set a deadzone for the analogue thumb sticks I believe?

Regardless, I've bought the Hotas 4 and about to fire it up. I may invest in a fancier Hotas later specifically for the PC, and use this one just for the PS4, but it'll do for now. :)

The new software from Logitech includes a deadzone setting for the analogue thumbsticks...as for drift, I've never suffered any but the added assurance of a 2 year warranty direct from Logitech after registering the X56 via their website certainly isn't to be sneezed at.

I bought the X56 in October last year (2017)...it's covered until October next year :)

That's good. I've got personal experience of just how good Logitech warranty / support is, so that is definitely a plus point (other's mileage may vary). If you have a problem, they're usually happy to replace with equivalent or better if you send them a photo of your old one smashed up.

Glad the drivers are more up to date than the reviewer's version I saw.

Definitely one for consideration.

I bought CH Fighterstick USB and CH Throttle Pro USB for ED and I've been quite happy with them both.

I haven't tried any of the other sticks and throttles, so can't really compare how they feel or work.

CH Fighterstick doesn't have twisting stick, so if yaw in a twist is something that you're used to or want, then it may not suit your needs. I've set yaw (and thrust forward/back) on one of the 4 way hats in the stick. I've never tried twiststicks or pedals for yaw, and maybe they would be better and give more nuanced control, but I'm really happy with this.

CH Throttle has a little mini joystick which is great for horizontal and vertical thrusters, I also use it on panels, menus and tuning in FSS.

I've mapped most of the controls to the stick and throttle, but since Beyond, I've started to use Fighterstick's pinky button as a sort of shift key, in conjunction with other buttons. I use headtracking (TrackIR) so I don't need keybinds for panels. I only use keyboard for accessing Camera Suite, Free Camera and focus, zoom functions etc., but there are some actions that I've not set a bind for (chaff, heatsinks, shield cells) because I don't do much battle.

Both stick and throttle look quite bland and plasticky, but apparently are quite long lasting. Some minor les: I had to put some deadzone for the ministick because it retained some horizontal/vertical thrust even after releasing the stick, and the sliding throttle didn't always go to 0 when pulling it back, so I recalibrated it by pulling it back to zero and then pushing it forward a fraction and that solved it.

After doing a operation on my X52, taking that little gradient thing out, I got to play ED with it today, and am finding it to be a amazing hotas. It makes flying so easy, both the stick and throttle feel so right, like extensions of you hands. I love it.

Yup but the mechanism inside is acutally pretty decent, I had the same kind of issue however, I simply flick the stick gently (for me resets it centre perfectly) or If I'm using it (I map it to headlook) I just gently nudge it in the opposite direction its moving. Yea the throttle has always been like that fix is as you said.

speaking about hotas, I've been using this saitek x56 for years, if suppose I buy the "new" logitech x56, will I have to rebind the keys from scratch or not?
Interesting question. It depends on whether the Logitech branded version presents itself to the OS as a different device from the Saitek version.

The solution to avoid binding from scratch if it does is to keep the old one plugged in while binding the new one. I don't think the game client cares about the physical USB port the peripheral is attached to, so you should be able to move it once you've set up your binds and removed the old stick.

I found the Trustmaster 16000M to stiff and springy for accurate movement, and ended up going left when I wanted to go up etc:

The Warthog does not twist, but you see that grey hat switch to the left of the upper yellow arrow?

I use that for yaw. No pedals needed.

Needed, no you're probably right but you miss out on the pedal experience particularly when using the SRV, docking and flight assist-off mode. Tbh I use my pedals way more than TrackIR...

I might invent a fault and claim on the warranty since my Saitek X56 is a year old now...I like new shiny things :D

I had a nearly 2 year old Logitech G* series KB replaced recently after it had a loose key, they simply sent me a new updated one with a smartphone docking port etc with no need for the destruction pics from me...I simply added a little vid to the warranty application of the key falling out when I turned the keyboard upside down and a week later, the courier delivered the new one. Can't beat that for warranty service.

....I notice that the new X56 RGB has no reference to Saitek anywhere on it and now replaced with a nice Logitech 'G' LED on the back.

OP. As others have said, I use TM 16000M FCS. My setup is:
Right hand - mouse - pitch / yaw
Left hand - TM - everything else

Ive got LG Extreme3dPro and I would like to switch to hotas also.
Thing is that I do not like how TM 16000M FCS look like and how buttons are set on stick.
X56 fits much better in to my needs of button layouts.

How is it with PvP? Which one is better, more precise?
