Newcomer / Intro What i did when i start playing Elite Dangerous

So i thought i can give some newbies an overview of what i did when i did start Elite Dangerous a few weeks ago.

Basicly before i did jump into the real game i did some of the training missions.
Thouse are kinda good to know how the controls are.

I also did watch some videos made by the Elite Dangerous ppl to learn a few more things.

This you should do when starting too.

After that i simply did coose solo mode and did hop in the game.

Wow now i sit here in my loaned Sidewinder and now what ?

Well i did just look at the stations bullitin board and took some easy delivery jobs.
I did not care about from who the job came just took the ones that gave the most credits. Basicly you should already look who offers thouse jobs, because if you do more jobs for them they offer u better ones later.
What you can also do is just fly out and scan some systems nearby. This can be some income at the start also. The main problem with it is if your ship get destroyed, you will loose all data you did collect and cant sell the data. If you plan to do so buy a cheap fuel scoop for the sidewinder too.

Anyway i really would rather stick to delivery jobs at the start.

Some of the mistakes i did at the start was, fghting vs pirates that pulled me out of the supercruise. While i managed to kill a few with the basic sidewinder i would rather recommend just try to escape. The basic sidewinder is just not good for fighting.

After i earned some money i did buy my an Adder. This ship had just more cargo then the sidewinder, more weapon slots then the Hauler and also as good to fly like the sidewinder.
After doin some more and bigger delivery jobs and sometimes some trading on the fly i did invest some money in a refinery and a big mining laser.

I must say this was one of the best decitions i made back then. Not knowing much about it i just flew to some rocks near the sun in a system near Eravate, and did start using the mining laser.
After some short time i got some fragment. I admit it took me some time to open the loading bay and catch the fragment.
Then i did try the next fragment but i did not suceed in catching it.
I could not understand what im doin wrong, after a while i didcovered i had to revise the materials in the refinery to put em in the canisters for storing while stuff i didnt want i had to release before i could add a new fragment.
I also found out what the lights of my ship are good for ;)
I guess i was lucky and had some metallic rocks around that did haul Gold, Silver, Paladium and sometimes Platin.
It took some time but after compleating i had a lot valuable metals i could sell.
Cool free money or should i say a lot free money ?

I did also upgrade the Adder with some better weapons and ship modules now and then.

A big withdraw of the Adder was the Cockpit. The windows where just to small so my view and around view was very limited.
Basicly when you mining you want to look around and see where is the next rock and what is around me.
On a side note just be sure you enter mining sites with at least a little sunlight. Even the shiplights wont be a live saver when you fly in a rock field in complete darkness.

So after having enought money i could finally buy me a Cobra. Wow this ship is just so awesome, the sound, the view, the look and the nostalgic feeling.

While i was also stripping and downgrade my adder for some extra cash i did also use some of the equipment for the cobra. That way i could just use the mining laser and refinery i did use in the Adder for the Cobra aswell.

While i sold most metals to just one station all the time i gootten some good reputation there and also better jobs now and then.
So while im basicly went off to mine more i also did a few delivery jobs ( even some Gold transports ) for quite some money.

While mining sometimes some pirates show off but not often since i was not at a REZ site. With the Cobra i had not much problems to fight the few encounters off.
Later i learned about the REZ sites and the high metallic rings for much better mining.

What you can also do when you have an Adder or even better a Cobra, you can trade rare goods. Rare goods get more valuable the bigger the distance from the selling station is. Means you get a good increase of worth when you 150-170 LY away.
However this would mean you have to youse some help sites to know where thouse goods are sold, having a good FSD and a fuel scoop.
Also thouse goods are not sold in large quantitys, witch means you might have to visit a few rare goods systems to get your cargo hold full.
I did this only one time and found it time wasting.
Mining was yielding much better profits for me.
After i had mostly an A grade Cobra i was also doin some comunity goals where you had to hunt pirates for bountys and hand them in in some specific station.
This hunting at REZ sites was very good and with a kill varant scanner even better. I made some big money when i killed Phytons and Anacondas with my Cobra with some help of the Police.
From comunnity goals i also earned a few mil extra cash just for handing in the bountys.

I also bought me a T6 Freighter just to look how good this trading is, but to be honest its just plain boring.
Profitable ? maybe but it was killing the fun and enjoyment of the game for me. So i stored in the T6 and took my Cobra out again and did go bounty hunting again.

That way i was able to get me an Asp pretty fast. Basicly its quite expensive to fit that one out but youre totally open what you want to do.
So you can go bounty hunting, do delivery jobs or some trading, mine or just go out explore systems or even all at once (i do all at once).
Its a great ship so far, i really like it.

Now i just look into some Vulture just for bounty hunting and comunity goals that require fighting.
So that will be another ship to my collection, since i kept all others and didnt even bother to strip em in case i want to get em out again.

At the moment im just lvling my rang at the Empire with thouse tiny delivery jobs, since im already allyed with Federation and Empire because of the bounty hunting.
Im already Baron in the Empire and Warrant officer in Federation.

So yeah its a great game. Like it was 30 Years ago just with more options and better sound and grafics.
Best part for me Solo and group mode. Big thanks for that.
In most MMOs you meet so many jerks that destroy the whole game for you and others.
With solo and group mode i will not encounter em.
