What I think i'll like most about ED

After many years of being young with more time to burn than I knew what to do with having spent those years playing various MMO's like EVE online etc, I would just like to thank FD for making a game like ED.

Those younger years of laying about putting effort into those other games are gone! I'm a responsible adult these days with all the attendant responsibilities for good or ill.

So what am i thinking i'm going to like most about ED??..

...I think what I will like most about it is that its something I can pick up and put down without the feeling that the game will become a "second job". Its very important that FD keep the game in that happy medium for those of us that simply cant afford to be ingame 24/7 in order to feel that we can get something from playing.

ED should satisfy everyone. The casual gamers, the regular players and the assiduous gamers which will develop a strategy of long-term in the game. I believe that Frontier confirmed this approach. But it makes for a long time (and I'm not sure)

Are you asking everyone what they think they'll like most about ED?

I'll just assume yes, and pitch in that for me it's the coop aspect of exploration, trading and fighting that draws me in. I loved playing Evochron together with friends, time our jumps and plot the jump targets so that we could surround a target, etc.

wasn't really asking just drawing attention to one particular thing about the game. that being its appeal to all the various levels of gaming effort.

I dont have the same amount of time as I used to have, gaming used to be my first job, all be it voluntarily and unpaid. And I probably dont have quite the same enthusiasm in games as I had way back when I played the original, but I'm still going to try and squeeze every ounce of freetime I do have into the game.

It will probably involve alot of late nights and many a sleepy day at work.

Jezzah I am with you on this. Was always a fairly avid gamer, though I went through a period of not gaming and mostly being young and stupid (hey, we are allowed too arn't we?)

In 2002 met my wife to be and somehow once we settled in our relationship a bit, the gaming came back, mostly because my wife is a gamer as well. We both played EvE online for a good while, but it is rather laborious when you join a corp.

For me ED is going to be many things. A game I can relax in, a community of people I can chat to and engage with, a game that finally makes me want to own an Oculus Rift on release, a game that helps me unwind after a tough day at work with a beer in hand! And perhaps some forumites on Teamspeak.

My first experience with this series was in the early 90's with Elite II, then with first encounters when I was 13 years old. I'm 32 now, so very looking forward to beta. I have been consistently disappointed with the lack of advancement and forward thinking with space sims since elite, in fact there haven't been that many noticeable space sims since elite really.

This is my game, this is our game...

I will play Elite on a casual side, I don't like games that turn into a 2nd job I have played plenty of them.

I totally echo the OP's comments. This game is perfect for being able to play when I can. There is no guild to have to dedicate time to in case you are kicked for lack of activity. No penalty for not playing. Yet, when I have time there is a universe to play in. This game is awesome.
