What I think of Planet Coaster after 1 week.

I have to say at first i was slightly disappointed. I bought Planet coaster (knowing it was in Alpha) because of all the bad reviews for RCTW. I was impressed with the visuals of the game, and the peeps animations and quality overall but was slightly disappointed since there is no sim aspect of the game, but once i put that aside i've really enjoyed using the coaster creator and making a really nice park. Aside from the lack of content which i hope will be included in the next update.

As it stands I'm still playing RCTW more (I bought it in the end anyway) just for the sheer amount of content at the moment and I'm willing to work through bugs as they provide more content, patches & Updates. I actually don't see why there can't be two good theme park games side by side and I'm pleased we are getting two. They both look as if they are headed in the right direction but once they are both complete for full release I think I'll be playing Planet Coaster more, even if just for the quality of the game so far.

Thanks Planet Coaster DEVS :D

RCTW was meant to be finished AGES ago so it's shocking that it's in the state that it is. PC's devs have been very open about what's not in the game yet so don't be disappointed. In May we'll get the next big update and that'll add lots of cool things. It won't add the tycoon/simulation aspect of the gameplay - that's likely going to be one of the last updates before the game launches.

The purpose of buying into the alpha is so you can support this work in progress and offer your feedback and glitch reports if you so wish.

:)

I bought PC first . Its a great game for an alpha, but I found myself bored to soon . I bought RCTW about a week later . RCTW is also a great game, considering its in EA . I seem to want to play RCTW more than PC due to the lack of stuff in it . I hope to see a good update very soon for PC so I can expand the playability of the game .

As far as multiple good theme park games, there is one more in the works (early development stage ) (not Paritect) and 2 coaster simulation games also that will be NL2 competition in the future . It seems the peoples interest in these games has sparked interest with developers .

Frontier have always said the last part they will concentrate will be on the pure sim aspect (well apart from UGC).

I recall that (I believe Brett C said this at one stage) their initial phases will be on the pure constructive/rides/terrain type elements. The actual simulation and statistical side will come towards the end.

Trying to play RCTW as simulation at the moment campaign/scenarios is pure painfull as its inherantly broken. I will try again after it's full release. Also the lack of customisation is really sparse unless you use UCG (not a fan of, due to compatabilty issues)

With PC will put a few more hours practicing bulidings and then leave it for a few weeks to stop me stuffering from burnout (thats why I haven't unlocked Coasters). I prefer Frontier's approach of slowly buliding the game up[big grin].

I cannot believe that ANY amount of work will make RCTW even usable. Sure, it has more features and assets right now than PC but just Look At It!!

Even if they solve all the bugs, the DREADFUL path placement tools, the fact that you just put down copy after copy after copy of the same building with a different sign on the roof, the fact that the people walk through gates, over grass and lets not even mention the annimations... No, even if ALL that is fixed, it will still look Awful, the pixelated backgrounds, the pixelated textures when zoomed in just to 1st person view, the fact that as soon as you zoom out more than 30 feet, the LOD reducer kicks in and makes the people look like sticks and the rides look like *****.

There is no way on earth they can fix it, the only way to do it is literally re write the game as everything has an issue, everything!

As for PC first impressions, what its like after a week or so, well this is just basically a 'demo' to show what the game can do and what it can look like. I have built two parks now and admit that once done, thats it, I have no feedback on my design or services, its all just eye candy right now.

However, I know that once the game is finished, it will be very much a proper sucessor to the old RCT series, cant wait!

RCT games attract people for many different reasons. Some like coaster building, others prefer creating buildings/ scenery and then of course there is the simulation and management side.
Personally I can't get enough of the building stage we are in currently and could spend days creating streets and decorating park structures.

PC is in a staged release phase of which only the building creation side is in public testing right now. For folks who prefer other aspects of the game I can understand why currently there is not much to hold there attention. But be patient what attracts you to this sort of games is coming. From what I've seen of the building tools and attention to detail I have not doubt that the other aspects are going to equally exceptional. The next update will add a whole lot more content and I am keen to see the terrain tools.

The management aspects and the interactive simulation part of the game is the last to be released, until then it is difficult to compare it with any other. This is going to be one additive game that is for sure, I can't wait to experience the game when its complete.

I've started playing around with PC more. I just can't get over how stunning it looks. It literally looks gorgeous!!

When I first started playing Planet Coaster, I found it hard to build stuff with and there wasn't very much scenery. So eventually, I just decided to start building and see where it would take me, and now I love the game! The graphics and building tools are just so wonderful. I can't wait until phase 2 when there is more content!

totally agree, it looks constantly amazing from every angle! I just luv how the park you create takes on a whole new vibe at nighttime than it did in the daytime.
