What I would love to have...

Here are some of the things that I would love to have in this game...

1) The ability to modularly create and equip my own ships with extensive choices for different hull designs, engines, armament, manuvering capabilities, and a vast selection of offensive and defensive weapons...similar to how mechs are constructed in armor core...which is a huge part of the draw to that game series...

2) The ability to create an armata/fleets of ships that can be controlled similar to units in C&C, Supreme Commander, and Sins of a Solar Empire...

3) The ability to land on, build, draw resources from, fortify, and control planets...along with orbiting stations...combining ships, stations, and control of planets to form galactic empires...

4) And lastly...something to bring players together...like AI enemies that pose a large enough threat that alliances and coopetative strategies have to be formed to defeat them...like the Shadows in Babylon 5...

Considering what this game is about, i don't see players making fortifications on planets. From what i heard about earlier elite games however, is that you could drop a mining thing of some sort on the surface. also noting that planets are labeled the same way asteroid belts are labeled, "metal rich" "mettalic" and whatnot, it seems that might already be planned.

You won't be able to pilot more than one ship or control them like that. that is also not what this game is about.

THARGOIDS. they are coming. soon. and SJA's AI programming is going nuts and making Elite AI truly Elite

But if you are impatient, there is a game that has all of those things. Do you know what it is called? i bet you can guess.
Eve online!

I didn't realize that Eve had those abilities... I liked the ships and adjustments that can be made...but thought the ship choices were limited...and couldn't create your own controllable fleets, control planets, create an empire, etc... My choice to go with ED was based on the feel of piloting, vastness, and potential for where this game could go... Are you on Eve Online too??? I might just have to give it a try and find out for myself...along with SC...

Cortana voice commands, at least in Xbox One 'cause it would be a great way to take advantage of kinect.

Just imagine: "Cortana, request docking at local station" "I'm on it commander. [small pause] Permission granted, we've been asigned to landing pad 24"

"Cortana, get us in hyperspace" "Give me 15 seconds commander"

"Cortana, redirect all energy to the engines"

"Cortana, plot a route to somewhere 1000LY toward the galaxy core"

Infinite posibilities, and infinitely awesome

I would like to see a thread that didnt generate lots of random lists that will never happen.
I don't think posting these ideas is a bad thing at all... Devs want to know what elements will draw the most to their game... I personally think that incorporating these elements (even as seperate modes of play) would draw the countless players like me who want extensive ship building customization ability, depth of strategy, and maybe one that can expound positively upon developing planet resources and securing their little piece of galactic turf from the barbarian horde... lol... I think these types of things would really expand the depth of the game...and draw many away from Eve an SC to ED... Just my personal opinion...and no offense to anyone... :)

Specialist ammo would be nice. Armour piercing, incendiary, EMP to kill shields or regular full metal jacket.

Modifiable laser colors so my Wing can set a custom color to see each others fire at a distance.

A Mk IV Cobra with four Utility slots.

Manual nav plots on the map.

Larger spiderweb area in star sparse areas.

As for your point #4, "Some men just want to watch the world burn."

So true... I think these space games could have a positive resource-based-development aspect to them...and bounty the bad guys who choose to take the kill and plunder pirate path...

I'd love to have some frozen custard...it is too damn hot outside.

Oh, in Elite...have I said rear view camera before? Also, I'd like to see some more interaction in exploration. If there were some activities you could get into as you are in near orbit with a planet, that'd be choice. Use a limpet to collect samples for analysis, calculate landing trajectories, or recover useful metals/minerals from the planet.

Forging and empire building are not really what Elite: Dangerous is supposed to about, as far as I understand, and that suits me personally. But I think Limit Theory will have all those things you wish for (except for the multiplayer aspect), and could be a great game. I hope it's still in the works...

Sure FD would like to hear game elements that draws in ppl.
It's just pointless to bring up options for a completely different type of game.
Modular costum ship design? I know nothing about game design but it sounds to me that you would need to build around a option like that, you can't just add that.

I'd be happy with a comet. Just one. One who's tail is just begging to be flown through as it hurtles head long towards a giant blue star.

That's me, banging that drum again.
