What if PB is delayed too?

If it gets delayed, i get to spend an evening with my wife. Win win here.

Is she watching you post this?

I think late afternoon early evening is the most likely time for it to "drop" ,look forward to seeing some of you "in game" for the first time :)

I dunno - I can't see ED being delayed.

I've backed both games - and regret none of it, it does seem like Frontier are doing a better job at the moment - but then who can tell for sure.

I don't mean to be jerky about CIG, but I think 'who's doing a better job at the moment' is a pretty subjective call.

I wish them the best of luck though!

So, no use in me staying up all night for the stroke of midnight? Too bad, I'll be doing it anyway. :p

I need alone time to play alpha 1.1 anyway :D

Me too, I wish them luck as both games being awesome would probably cause 80% of us old backers to have heart attacks. I'll take that risk though.

I have to say though, if the premium beta is as good as alpha 1.1 or better SC has its work cut out for them.

its the same with every forum, SC now has what 450+k backers, when you get into that kinda number of peeps, the quality of the forum convo's begins to nose dive fast, as do the number of troll's increase, attracted by all the people, think feeding frenzy.

I expect both ED and SC to rule personally, they both appear to be shaping up to, which is good :)

I admit Chris Roberts is a master marketer that managed to extract 3.3k usd out of me, I never meant to of course, he'd already got me to 300 by end of kickstarter, and I was sure I had already spent far more then I had planned so wouldnt spend more, he started small teasing a cheap little aurora deluxe with lti for us to to chew on, it thought well I'd need something to fly if my connie gets blown up waiting for insurance to come through, and I dont want to be in a big ship all the time, this will do nicely.

Then ship by ship his dastardly plan unfolded why don't you get this limited edition M50 and do some racing... you like bounty hunting you need this Avenger check out this shiny PBR version, 300i commercial.. drool, must have them all (think south park chimpokomon!!!), fancy a racer with straight line grunt and endurance have this here limited edition 350r, for just 20 more make it a package and get an exclusive racing suit... you know you want to, I dont need a hornet... hornet commercial... no I need a superhornet, no 2, and make 1 a package for the exclusive side-arm!!!, dont need a freelancer... oooh shiny exploration ship, a cutlass, pah, you need 2 cutlasses for your main char and 2 for your pirate, or you'll have nothing to fly when you loose one.... and get a LN each as well to make sure your never shipless, pirate days boring, nothing but combat ships to fly... try a caterpillar check out this concept art ..., snaring more and more of my cash, the last end of LTI sale, managed to suck up 1.5k usd from me, I lost the ability to resist the ships, the worst one was the banu merchantman, I wasnt going to get it but one concept piece later and I was baying like a hound for the ruddy thing rinsed a 2nd connie put my last bit of bank account money into it to top it up in order to get it in time.

I now have Grand Admiral title and the following ships, all LTI lol:
| Aurora LX & MR(this is going to become a mustang when they come out, one with LTI thanks to this ship) + 2x LN | Avenger | Banu Merchantman | 4x Cutlass | Constellation | Caterpillar | Freelancer | Gladiator | M50 | 315p | 2x 325a | 350r | Retaliator | 1x F7C-M & 1x F7A-M Super Hornets | Starfarer | And I just have to get the freelancer and connie upgrades when they come out, connie deluxe and freelancer explorer edition will suck up a little more cash, but otherwise no more LTI ships mean my wallet can rest and slumber again, I also have enough packages for well a main, a racer, a pirate, a bounty hunter, an explorer and a mercenary, though I'll probably only have 1 main and a pirate, and maybe one more type, whatevers most awkward for my main to get to do.

Spent £100 on ED, I just couldnt countenance spending 50 more just for a title, meaning I couldnt countenance 50 more still for alpha, and well without ship and lti sales, no leering frenzy of buyers lust set in with ED, finally abating when LTI ran out, admittedly my wallet thanks David Braben for this profusely.

The biggest issue with any forum is that the average person cannot comprehend what is written by most developers when they make a post. 50% of the folks who read a post will read everything and understand everything, 30% will understand 60% of what is written, and 20% won't understand a thing. CIG stated that it was their goal to have a release on the 29th, but that could possibly not happen due to bugs. They stated this in every post ever written. People chose to ignore this. There was no over-promising or under-promising.

It would be like DB stating that his eventual goal is to include landing on planets from space, and then saying after R&D that this was not possible. People then start calling him and Frontier liars and thieves. It would be totally unfounded. People keep projecting their own thoughts and ideas on the developers instead of reading/listening to what is actually said. People who are expecting static schedules for software development whether in this game or any other game are going to be sadly mistaken. Good engineers and developers in all walks of life will change what tasks are done based on what makes the most sense. I'm sure Frontier has changed priorities on tasks tons of times.

I have noticed that the folks in this forum tend to have a much more mature attitude in general. It also seems like Frontier has a lot of the core systems in place. I'm sure there are plenty more things to implement and flesh out further however. We are all going to win with this excellent game and SC.

aye true, though its a bonus anyone who's ever heard of Infinity universe knows procedurally generated planets is possible, though it appears to take a while to do right.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrcEUO7TC28 << from 2010 all procedural, though he had a tech demo years earlier than this showing a still quite pleasant planet if not quite as pretty, and did a blog for years with wonderful posts about how he was procedurally doing everything and his trials and tribulations of development, procedural nebula's and galaxy map etc, seemless plantery transitions etc.

We're all kids at heart especially when it comes to our favorite hobbies, but wow .. 3.3k pledged to a game that hasn't come out yet .. that is a lot of faith you have, my friend. Also lol @ spending 3.3k on one game and not being able to see yourself spend 150 on another

sorry to say there's no way sc can deliver on all the stuff the backers/fanboys want..not in any reasonable time frame. What they want is so complex and so 'never been done' in any other software it would take a team 5 times as big to even get it half way there. No wonder the dfm has suffered so badly. I've worked on games like this that had similar 'pie in the sky' aspirations and unless management is absolutely amazing its just never gonna materialize. They need to focus on the core gameplay which is space combat and make it amazing. Not have 1 team working on it whilst 10 others working on towel simulations and fps combat. The game wont be around long enough to even fulfill the backers dreams if the core game isn't there.
100% agree :)

but the thing is its stated on the site and in the latest dev blog and latest post that the Beta WILL come on the 30th no if ands or butts so. to me its VERY unlikely it will be delayed.

Battlecruiser 3000AD and Universal Combat were both a let down it was a nice idea but the problem was the guy behind it was a egotistical jerk even banned me from his forums because i was complaining about the fact that Universeal Combat i think required shader 2.0 card which i didnt have. The thing is the games were too complicated for their own good and used dated graphics too i think you needed to read a manual like 400 pages thick to really understand the game now some techno nerds would like that but in general i want a space game to be fun not something i have to feel like im studying a College Course to play :p.

I think that Elite Dangerous Beta will come out tommorow it will be awesome "some" issues but hopefully from learning from the launch of Alpha 4 it might go a little smoother. I think personally to me it will be a big "in your face star citizen!" (thats what Colbert would say) we will be launching a nice beta while Star Citizen is still struggling to release a (lets be honest limited) combat module they were supposed to release 5 months ago.

I think personally that in the long term Star Citizen will do well but beware the hype train. Elite Dangerous has not fueled that. there have been realistiic dev videos, a humble heartfelt thanks from David most every video he makes thanking backers and to me Elite has more reasonable goals and timeframe. and leaving the extra stuff for expansions instead of trying to cram it all into first release.

the thing that frustrated me was that the REASON i was hoping for the dogfighting module to come out today was to get some playtime in while i wait a day for Elite Dangerous beta

for me like the hangermodule (which you really coudnt do too much with anyways though i may just slip in it tonight again to imagine myself pew pewing in my freelancer in the future)... was just a fun little demo

and i think the same will be said with arena commander though if the gamepad control isnt TOO sensitive i may try my hand at some multiplayer down the road.

but Elite Dangerous for now is my main interest until Star Citizen fleshes out a bit more :).

The game franchises I'd most like to see brought back after Elite would be two Chris Roberts games: Wing Commander and Wing Commander Privateer.

Squadron 42 is the closest you're going to get to Wing Commander and Star Citizen is the closest you're going to get to Privateer.

A hangar and a towel might be as close as you can get to any of those.
