Recently I was playing around with the species viewer and went over the gallimimus to check out the blank skin options, only to go over to the 1993 skin and see that the juvenile pattern was gone!
To get this look, you have to go to choose any skin that isn't 1993, then give it a blank pattern, then go and choose the 1993 skin with the blank pattern selected and you will see this look shown above. Unfortunately, this does not work in game as you will always get the 1993 skin with the juvenile pattern included regardless what pattern was selected prior.
I was bummed by this as I do like the blank stripeless look of the classic gallimimus, but it got me thinking, wouldn’t it actually be cool if the juvenile pattern gradually disappears with age?
I tested this out and see if it was the case, but the gallimimus with 1993 skin will always have the juvenile pattern until old age.
Since we have dinosaurs with unique skin mechanics like the Indominus rex's camouflage and the parasaurolophus lux's glow, I think the 1993 gallimimus skin would be cooler if the juvenile pattern is taken literally as it will disappear with age. Like a gallimimus at 10 years of age with the 1993 skin would have no trace of the pattern remaining, an indication it has reached adulthood.
This idea could very well have been taken into consideration as the species viewer see's the juvenile stripes as a separate patten. If so, I support this idea as it would make the 1993 gallimimus fun to incubate as it gives off a 'fresh from the oven' feel.
