What if you don't have friends? (No Wing Men!)

So while I am fairly new to this game I am seriously enjoying it. I even went out and bought a Saitek x52 because I couldn't help but feel like I was missing out a little not having one. I am also really looking forward to using a Rift with this at some point.

ANYWAYS, moving on. I had couple friends who originally got me into this game, but they are never really on anymore and I find myself just flying around space trading and watch Netflix in the backround during FSD cooldowns and jumps.

But I miss flying around with my buddies having fun and talking, even if we were in totally different systems or areas it was cool to talk and meet hang out. So my question is how do I go about finding new people who want to chat and make some friends in the game. I can't really go around interdicting people and ask them to be friends, and I am pretty sure those who are coming after me don't really want to make friends either? Is there a facet of the game I am missing where I would be able to meet people who would be down to have some space adventure fun, or even just hang out and chat while we grind away some routes?

What timezone are you, Mick-torius? And do you frequent any particular region of space?

I am EST in Boston MA. I am on between 6-9 PM most days. Monday/Tuesday are my normal days off when I might be on during different hours. Too be honest I am not sure what "region" I am in. I have been hanging out at LP 100-56 a lot recently running a route there.

Groups might be what you're after - have a look at the Mobius Group.

Awesome will check this out as well!

I am always open to flying with other CMDRs, especially newer players, as I love to help get guys on their feet and show them the ropes. However, I am getting on about the time you're getting off. 8:00pm PST usually. If you have any later nights, feel free to hit me up! We can trade, kill, RES, CZ, Pirate, or BH.

You guys are really awesome I didn't expect such a quick response. I figured I might get a response or two in a few days but this is great!

Ah, same thing here. I'm happy to fly with new commanders, but the time you get on is the time I'm calling it a night - 2300 GMT. I really hope we can find you some commanders to fit with your time zone.

A great way to meet new commanders is to just say 'hello' in game! Everyone on my friends list someone I've met in game. You'll often find other people wanting to wing by sending a message to LOCAL in the comms screen at or near stations. I've winged up with all kinds of people for various reasons, either shooting out res or combat zones, to helping another player, to even trying to disrupt trade routes. You'll meet someone at some point and it's likely the case they've never formed a wing before. It can work out to be (when it works right!) a great part of the game, finding new people to fly with and it makes PvP a LOT more fun too!

What stocko said. That's been my experience too. In fact only a couple of times have I ever had the misfortune to encounter unfriendly people. Most are really nice. Some may not answer you - just remember that not all players of the game speak English and don't take it personally - or they may be afk for some reason and not see yoru message if you go and say hello.

make sure there is a live person in your system first though or you will be saying hello to NPC's. and we know how talkative they are right!
