What is a "core" datapoint? anyone?

Hi guys and gals!

Before you even think about saying "...well its a datapoint in the core" don't :p although you smart people will, i'm sure come up with something equally witty.

Seriously though, I have been trying hard to get myself some modified consumer firmware and one way of getting them is by scanning bases datapoints. (the red things) in the time limit... bla bla bla you know, but I was halfway though doing them and I came across a blue one, (sorry no pic) that said, core data point. So I thought a data point is a data point right? nooooooo, well it is kinda it basically stopped the countdown and I won *yeay* but... wait a minute there was no reward, none at all.

So my question to you guys is two-fold, A) is it part of the actual challenge and they are just bugged B) have any of you guys had this same experience?

P.S for a common mat, "modified consumer firmware" in fact all firmwares are hard to find!

Any help greatly appreciated,
Yours with confidence

Core data points give you a database download (intel package) that's worth a lot more money than normal. The last one I got was worth 600k. I too, was looking for modified consumer firmware. Upon further review of the material's description however, it seems that you can't get that one from scanning data points- only from missions. If anyone has any idea what sort of factions tend to use modified consumer firmware as a mission reward, I'd love to know. So far, I've only seen it come up twice- once in a mission I didn't have the rep for, and one simple surface salvage mission. This "common" material has given me more trouble than any other material I've hunted thus far. :/
