I was scrolling through the achievements (mostly out of boredom), and I noticed a few are given for scanning listening stations, though I don't think I've ever found one, nor do I know where they can be found at all. Does anyone have information on these? My Google searches haven't turned up anything.

The only ones I have read about were a way to triangulate an abandoned mining settlement on a planet with a bit of backstory.

in the real world FOP/ Forward Observation Post's would be on or behind a enemy states border normally by SpecOps or a Recce section and tend to be a temporary set up (harder to find and bypass) but they can be permanent set up NI had listening post's set near the Irish border to watch for IRA coming across with weapons and the DZM in Korea has them both sides of the wire.

I suppose that's possible, I'll spend some time trying to track one down. From the picture of the achievements they seem to be satellites so I think they show up as USS around a planet, maybe similar to tourist beacons.
I know for a fact there are some in sol. And at least one in gateway.

Are you thinking of the unregistered beacons in Sol and Gateway? As far as I know, there isn't a listening post, but if there is, I'm gonna check em out.
I found a listening post in sol in low orbit around earth. It was a sattelite with lots of antenna. When i scanned it it gave me msg a bit like the tourist info and some data scans aswell.
Actually, yes! I went into the forums and saw that they're looking into satellites similar to "numbers' stations", which is one of the mysterious things added in 2.2. It's highly likely that these number stations are the listening posts being referenced in the achievements.
Oh. Well then, I guess I'll go check em out. I assumed a listening post was an actual structure of some sort, not a satellite. The one(s) in Sol points to ones in Gateway and Lave, which are leading to the next step in the alien site mystery.

You're all referring to the historical nav beacons unless I am completely missing the listening stations in Gateway and Sol. There are three known listening stations that I have found in my searches.
COL 285 Sector FG-X D1-49
Hyades Sector EB-X D1-59
Hyades Sector IR-U B3-5
They are right off of the bubble and you need to be within 1,000 LS to see it in navigation. They actually appear in navigation as "Listening Station" not Lave Radio or the new historical markers. Approach like a station, drop out of SC and then scan it. If you happen to find any more please let me know.

There are several unregistered beacons that are not historical in Sol, Lave, and Gateway. They are part of the alien site mystery. The thread in Dangerous Discussion is trying to find out the puzzle of them. I'm not sure if they are regarded as listening posts, I assumed such posts would be labeled as such and would be an entire structure, not a little capsule/satellite.

I'm actually staring at the unregistered comms beacon orbiting Velli 6 as we speak, but this sort of mystery is way out of my league to decipher. I'll probably head off to one of the listening stations you mentioned and see what those are about.
